Nicole Kidman Steps Out for First Time Amid Keith Urban Divorce

Nicole Kidman‘s latest outing was a family affair.

Just a day after filing for divorce from Keith Urban after 19 years together, the star of Big Little Lies was seen spending time with family. She went for a hike in Nashville with her sister, Antonia Kidman, showing she’s relying on loved ones for support.

Photos published by Daily Mail on October 1st show Nicole keeping her look relaxed for a daytime outing. She wore black leggings paired with a gray athletic zip-up jacket and sneakers. Completing her comfortable outfit, the 58-year-old added a gray hat and black sunglasses.

During their walk in nature, Nicole was observed having a serious conversation with Antonia. Antonia, dressed in a pink shirt and loose tan pants, listened carefully to what Nicole was saying.

Even though the Academy Award-winning actress has her sister’s support following the separation, her oldest daughter Sunday Rose hasn’t been at home. In fact, the 17-year-old was overseas on October 1st, walking the runway as a model for Dior during Paris Fashion Week.

The Academy Award-winning actor filed for divorce from Keith, 57, yesterday. According to divorce papers obtained by TopMob News, the reason for the split is “irreconcilable differences.”

The paperwork was submitted soon after TopMob discovered that the couple-who got married in 2006 after dating for a year-had been living separately since early summer, even though Nicole was initially against the separation.

Although initially one person may have been more inclined to separate, the pair have now come to a shared understanding about raising their daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, 14, in the future.

Actually, several weeks before TopMob obtained the documents, Nicole and Keith had already agreed on a lasting plan for raising their children. This plan stated their kids would live with their mother for 306 days a year, making her the “primary residential parent,” and spend the remaining 59 days each year with their father.

Following the announcement of the split, Keith immediately launched his global tour, which began earlier this summer. He’s next scheduled to perform in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on October 2nd.

Although neither Keith nor Nicole have commented publicly about their split, the musician subtly altered the lyrics to his song “The Fighter” during a performance last month. This song was originally written about his relationship with the Babygirl actress, and the change has sparked some attention.

The song’s original lyrics go, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter.”

However, Keith chose to sing, as shown in a video that his touring guitarist Maggie Baugh posted on Instagram on Sept. 27, saying, “When people try to bother you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.”

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban quietly separated and began living separately around the start of summer, according to TopMob News. Several significant events throughout the summer then contributed to their eventual decision to file for divorce.

His High and Alive World Tour began in Alabama, and he spent the summer touring throughout the U.S., Canada, and Australia.

They were last seen together in public at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in Nashville, and appeared to be enjoying themselves, laughing and smiling.

To celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary in June, Kidman shared a picture of the couple online, writing, “Happy Anniversary Baby.” Urban responded with a heart emoji, but he didn’t make a post of his own.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! My absolute favorite country singer just totally lost it during an interview! They were asking him about Nicole Kidman and how amazing her chemistry was with Zac Efron in A Family Affair, and he just… stopped the interview! Like, mid-sentence! I’m obsessed with everything Nicole does, and seeing her with Zac was *chef’s kiss*, but I can’t believe he got so upset just hearing the question! It’s wild!

A radio host on Australia’s Mix 102.3’s Hayley & Max in the Morning asked, “With your wife, the wonderful Nicole Kidman, constantly appearing in so many fantastic films and TV series, what goes through Keith Urban’s mind when he sees her sharing romantic scenes with attractive younger actors like Zac Efron on television and radio?”

Suddenly, Urban disappeared from the call.

“He’s no longer connected to Zoom,” a radio staff member explained. “It seems his team ended the call, likely because they didn’t want us to bring up that question.”

His rep didn’t respond to TopMob’s request for comment at the time.

Sources at TopMob News have discovered that the Practical Magic actress has applied for residency in Portugal, and Urban is reportedly planning to do the same.

According to a source familiar with the matter, “Keith couldn’t attend the appointment in Portugal because he’s currently touring the U.S.,” TopMob reported. “Applying for the visa requires an in-person appearance. He plans to submit his application as soon as his tour schedule allows.”

At the time, the source said both planned to maintain a permanent residence in Nashville as well.

In an interview, the couple’s oldest daughter, Sunday Rose, described how her parents run their household, explaining that they have “two big rules” they always follow.

She explained to Nylon that she faced two main limitations. First, she wasn’t able to pursue any fashion-related jobs until she turned 16. Second, her education always needed to be her priority, something she initially disliked. However, she now appreciates these rules, saying, “they really help me stay focused and maintain a positive outlook.”

Nicole Kidman posted a glimpse of her summer vacation with her daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, but her husband wasn’t featured in the photos she shared on Instagram.

“Summer memories,” the actress wrote. “Now back to school.”

In August, her attorney drafted a Child Support Worksheet as part of a Parenting Plan, which indicated that Kidman and Urban would share legal responsibility for their daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

However, the Oscar-winning actor was officially designated as the children’s “primary residential parent.” This meant the girls lived with their mother for 306 days each year and with their father (Keith Urban will have them every other weekend) for 59 days.

Neither will pay child support, according to the doc obtained by TopMob News.

The parents will maintain a loving, stable, and supportive relationship with their child, even after their divorce, it stated. They agree to avoid speaking negatively about each other or anyone in the other parent’s family. They will also encourage each child to continue loving both parents and feel at ease within both families.”

Urban finalized their divorce agreement, having it officially notarized in August, according to documents obtained by TopMob News.

As a longtime follower of their relationship, I was saddened to read the official statement. It said Nicole Kidman will be initiating divorce proceedings against him because they’ve grown apart – they’re citing irreconcilable differences. What struck me most was that the document also made it clear that neither of them will be receiving alimony or spousal support after the split. It seems like they’re both committed to moving forward independently.

The same date, he also signed off on the Parenting Plan.

One week following Urban’s actions, the actress also had the Marital Dissolution Agreement officially notarized and signed the Parenting Plan.

On the same day, a judge approved an order requiring both celebrities to attend a required parenting class, unless they request a waiver, according to documents obtained by TopMob News.

Even though she had already signed the necessary paperwork, she continued to wear her engagement ring while attending an event at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles.

The split between the couple made news, with TopMob News reporting that they had secretly ended their relationship. The pair had been dating since 2005.

The Big Little Lies actress has formally requested a divorce, stating that they separated on the day the paperwork was submitted: September 30, 2025.

The couple’s Marital Dissolution Agreement and Parenting Plan were both filed with a Tennessee court on the same day for approval.
