Marvel Character Missing for 8 Years Reportedly Returning in Daredevil: Born Again (But There’s a Catch)

Daredevil: Born Again is becoming the central series for Marvel’s new approach to television. The show has already been greenlit for a third season, which was confirmed well before the second season even premieres. Beyond getting multiple future seasons, fans are also thrilled about seeing characters from the previous Marvel Netflix shows return. We know Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, and rumors suggest Mike Colter may soon return as Luke Cage. The show’s creators may not stop there, and are reportedly planning to bring back one of Matt Murdock’s former romantic partners.

A new report from DanielRPK on Patreon (as shared by Cosmic Marvel) suggests that Elektra will be appearing in Daredevil: Born Again. It’s currently unclear whether she’ll show up in Season 2 or Season 3. While this is just a rumor, fans should view it with caution, though Elektra’s return would certainly be a compelling addition to the series.

How Could Elektra Fit Into Daredevil: Born Again?

If Elektra reappears in Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel Studios will need to address a significant plot point. At the conclusion of The Defenders, Elektra and Matt Murdock were both trapped and seemingly buried alive when Midland Circle collapsed. While we know Murdock survived, Elektra’s fate has been unclear. Fans only know her body wasn’t recovered from the wreckage, which suggests she might still be alive. This wouldn’t be the first time Elektra has returned from death; she was previously brought back to life by the Hand.

At the conclusion of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, Daredevil was preparing for a conflict with Wilson Fisk. To have any hope against the formidable mayor, Matt needs to gather a team of allies. Elektra could be a valuable addition, as she’s a highly skilled fighter with a significant history with Daredevil. If Matt believes Elektra is still alive, he’d probably try to enlist her help. Alternatively, Elektra might unexpectedly offer her assistance, surprising Matt.

The creative team behind Daredevil: Born Again wouldn’t bring back a significant character like Elektra unless they had substantial plans for her. It would be frustrating for fans if she returned after being absent for a long time just for a brief cameo. If Elektra does return, it’s likely her history with Matt will be examined, which could add an interesting new layer to the story. In Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again, Matt began a relationship with Heather Glenn, so Elektra’s return might complicate things for him and his potential future with Heather (provided Heather is still around, of course). Elektra’s reappearance could also affect how Matt interacts with Karen Page as he sorts out his feelings for both women.

As a big Marvel fan, I think they’re really building something special with Daredevil: Born Again, and it got me thinking… maybe holding back Elektra’s return until Season 3 would be the smartest move. Season 2 already seems packed – we’re getting Jessica Jones back, and there’s a chance Luke Cage will reappear too. I think it would be better to not rush all these character reunions at once. Spacing them out would give Elektra the attention she truly deserves, don’t you think? Another idea – and this is just me speculating – is to have her make a quick, surprising cameo at the end of Season 2, hinting at a bigger role to come in Season 3.
