Kaia Gerber Says a “Lot Is Being Healed’ Amid Lewis Pullman Romance

Kaia Gerber is living her sweetest friends to lovers dream. 

It’s confirmed that she is dating Top Gun: Maverick star Lewis Pullman, and it seems their relationship began as they developed a close friendship.

“There’s been a lot of positive growth in our relationship,” Kaia, 24, shared on the Oct. 1 episode of Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast. “I truly believe that if you get the chance to date a friend, you should go for it. It’s a much more fulfilling experience.”

“I really don’t want to argue with my friends,” she went on. “I don’t want to be angry with them either. I have a lot of respect for my friends. It’s just different, and I think sometimes when you care about someone deeply, you can forget how much you like them.”

The Bottoms actor-whose parents are Cindy Crawfordand Rande Gerber-didn’t say exactly when she and Lewis became close, but she shared that “in relationships, you reach a point where it’s hard to believe how love can bring you together.”

It’s a wonderfully intricate emotion, and Kaia feels it’s best understood when shared with a close friend, rather than someone she doesn’t have a connection with.

She added, “If you’re open to dating your friends, you definitely should, or at least date people you’d consider friends anyway.” She went on to say, “Don’t base a relationship solely on sexual attraction or infatuation. Enjoy those connections physically, absolutely, but they don’t necessarily need to become long-term partnerships.”

Reports about a possible romance between Kai and Lewis, both 32, began circulating in January, shortly after her three-year relationship with Austin Butler ended. They were spotted looking comfortable together at his birthday celebration in Los Angeles, where she and the Lessons in Chemistry actor appeared to be getting close.

According to an eyewitness who spoke with TopMob News that month, Kaia and Lewis arrived and departed together, and were seen “holding hands and very affectionate.”

Although Kaia recently shared details about her relationship with Lewis-whose father is Bill Pullman-he has been more reserved when discussing them. Specifically, the actor avoided answering any questions about their romance at the April 28 premiere of Thunderbolts.

“No, I don’t have a date tonight. My family is who I’m spending time with,” Lewis explained to Entertainment Tonight at the event. He then quickly dismissed a question about a particular “brunette” that fans were hoping to see him with. “We’re all just happy to be here on the red carpet, having fun, and excited about Thunderbolts.”
