With Destiny 2 experiencing a dip in players-reaching around 16,001 at its peak on Steam in the last 24 hours-Bungie has brought on a new Global Franchise Director. Hilary Hidey announced on Twitter, “I’ve been a fan of this series for a long time, and I’m thrilled to be a part of what comes next.” She also confirmed that she played Destiny 1.
Hidey has a very strong resume, with credits including Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Evil Within 2, and Starfield, among other titles. She previously worked at BioWare on the Mass Effect strike team, contributing to the ending of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and also served as the lead producer for the upcoming Mass Effect game.
Hidey joined Bungie in September 2025, and it’s still unclear how her contributions will shape the future of the game. The game’s direction has been somewhat unstable since the launch of The Edge of Fate. A lot of this stems from player feedback regarding The Portal, the difficulty of increasing your Power level, and several bugs that were highlighted in the recent Ash and Iron update.
Destiny 2 is getting a new expansion called Renegades in December. It’s heavily inspired by Star Wars, even featuring weapons like the Lightsaber and Blaster. Click here to learn more.
