A new free game on Steam was released this week by the Vancouver Film School, and early impressions are very positive. Currently, the PC game has 53 user reviews, and all of them are positive, resulting in a perfect 100% rating. It’s uncertain if it can keep up this score in the long run. The fact that it’s completely free and doesn’t include any in-game purchases likely contributes to the positive feedback. However, it’s still a remarkable achievement, and something you don’t see very often on Steam.
I’m really excited about this new free game on Steam, Not Raised by Wolves! Seriously, if you check it out, it gives me major old-school Ratchet & Clank and Jak and Daxter feelings. You play as La Coyota, who’s this cool, animal-like character – a gunslinger, actually – and her mission is to save the colony’s pups. She’s going into this ancient AI facility with the help of a robotic buddy, which sounds awesome. It reminds me a lot of those classic games!
Free, But Not Very Long
Although Not Raised by Wolves is completely free to play and has a perfect 100% rating, it’s important to know that it isn’t a full-length game. Many Steam user reviews point out that you can finish it in about an hour, and it’s a fairly simple experience overall. Despite this, players on PC seem to be having fun with it.
One user described it as a cool and fun shooter with fantastic graphics, saying it brought Ratchet and Clank to mind and was definitely worth trying. Another reviewer praised VFS, calling this game another excellent release, highlighting the clever use of weak point mechanics and a very memorable character.
As many other reviewers have pointed out, this game is a fantastic trip down memory lane for anyone who enjoyed action games with animal characters when they were growing up. It’s also a welcome change of pace between bigger releases. If this doesn’t appeal to you, there are still other choices. For instance, a new science fiction game came out recently and is receiving similarly positive feedback from players. And if you’re looking for something free, the Epic Games Store currently offers a new open-world survival game from 2024 with tons of content – you can play it right now without spending a dime.
Players hoping to try this new free PC game on their Steam Deck might experience some issues. The game’s Steam Deck compatibility is currently listed as “Unknown”, meaning it may not run smoothly on the handheld device.
With that being said, please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts in the comments below, or continue the discussion on the ComicBook Forum.
