Every Animated Version of The Avengers, Ranked

The Avengers are dominating the movie world. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe becomes incredibly popular, it makes sense that the franchise’s main team is also doing so well. Much of their success is thanks to the original six members – Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye – who show that teamwork is possible even when people disagree. They don’t always get along, but they still manage to save the world multiple times. However, all the arguing can become tiresome, so it’s good that the Avengers also have a significant presence on television.

Although Marvel Animation isn’t currently making any new Avengers shows or movies, there are still lots of older ones you can enjoy, and they all have something special to offer. However, not every version is the best. Here’s a ranking of every animated take on the Avengers.

10) The Avengers: United They Stand

The success of an Avengers series heavily depends on its team members, and The Avengers: United They Stand has a rather unusual group. Ant-Man and Wasp head up the team, which also features Wonder Woman, Tigra, Falcon, Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Hawkeye. Despite battling many well-known villains, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes don’t quite make a lasting impression during the show’s short 13 episodes.

9) Spidey and His Amazing Friends

Occasionally, a challenge is too great for just one or two heroes to handle, so they call for assistance. In Spider and His Amazing Friends, Peter Parker asks for help from some of the Avengers, like Black Panther, Hulk, and Ms. Marvel. These three characters add a lot of excitement to the show, which is aimed at younger viewers, but they don’t take away from the main characters because they aren’t the central focus.

8) Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher

Despite originating in America, the Avengers have made appearances in several anime series. Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher features a forced partnership between the two assassins when a terrorist group tries to sell risky technology. The Avengers do lend a hand, arriving for the climactic fight and helping to secure victory. However, their portrayal isn’t particularly memorable.

7) Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers

When it comes to anime, Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers offers a fresh perspective, presenting the heroes in an unusual way as they join forces with a group of children to overcome Loki’s evil plans. It’s enjoyable to see a different take on the well-known Marvel team, particularly because the storyline is quite different from their previous adventures. However, the main drawback is that the heroes often take a backseat to the younger characters.

6) Marvel Future Avengers

This anime is another story where Earth’s Mightiest Heroes team up with kids. In Marvel Future Avengers, Iron Man and the Avengers train a group of children who were led to believe they were villains. But that isn’t true at all! The Avengers teach them the value of doing what’s right and support them whenever they can.

5) What If…?

The MCU animated series What If…? doesn’t focus much on the Avengers, but they do appear occasionally. One memorable group forms years before Nick Fury assembles his team, and is led by Peggy Carter. However, despite offering a lot of interesting content, the Avengers from What If…? will likely always be seen as secondary to their live-action counterparts.

4) Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow

I’m really excited about the Avengers’ anime projects, and while some of them show the Avengers mentoring random kids, Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow is different. It’s all about what happens *after* the original Avengers are gone – their kids have to step up and save the world from Ultron! It’s just so cool to see Captain America and Black Widow’s child fighting alongside the children of Black Panther and Storm. It feels like a natural continuation of their parents’ legacies!

3) Avengers Assemble

It’s rare for a cartoon to last three seasons, and even more unusual to reach five, so Avengers Assemble must be doing something right. The series introduces Falcon as the Avengers’ latest member, and he quickly needs to learn the ropes as the team has a lot of work to do-stopping villains and rescuing people. By covering many of the most famous Avengers stories, Avengers Assemble keeps its heroes busy, though the show generally avoids dealing with overly complex or adult themes.

2) Ultimate Avengers

It’s difficult to name two Marvel animated films better than the Ultimate Avengers pair. Inspired by the comic books of the same name, these movies start cautiously but then become bolder and take risks with their characters. The second movie, Ultimate Avengers 2: Rise of the Panther, especially stands out for its willingness to break new ground by killing off a key hero.

1) Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes

When discussing top-tier animated superhero series, Batman: The Animated Series and X-Men ’97 often receive the most attention. But Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is just as deserving of praise, largely due to its dedication to developing compelling heroes. Each key character enjoys a well-developed storyline comparable to those found in the MCU, and their adventures are accompanied by a truly excellent theme song.
