Get ready for another season of The Flip Off! Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa, the former couple, will be back for Season 2, meaning more disagreements are likely on screen. However, despite their on-camera clashes, the Flip or Flop stars are actually quite close. Haack recently shared how supportive El Moussa was during her split from Josh Hall – not only with The Flip Off, but also in her personal life.
Viewers of HGTV’s The Flip Off saw hints of trouble in Christina Haack and Josh Hall’s marriage during the Season 1 premiere (which you can watch with an HBO Max subscription). During filming, Hall expressed his frustration, saying his wife was “pissing [him] off.” Later in the episode, Haack discussed a disagreement they had privately that ultimately led to their separation, and now she’s sharing more details about what happened and her ex-husband’s involvement.
Christina Haack shared with People magazine that in July 2024, her children seemingly asked Josh Hall not to join them for a beach weekend, which upset him. Upon their return, this led to a disagreement between the couple, and Haack stated she then contacted Tarek El Moussa. She remembers:
I called Tarek, and I said, ‘I’m worried right now. I feel uncomfortable.’ And he said, ‘Leave.’
Not only did The Flipping El Moussas star support his ex-wife through that difficult time, but he continued to do so later, when it became obvious that Josh Hall was no longer able to be on The Flip Off. According to People, Christina Haack explained that her first husband took the initiative and made some important calls:
Tarek informed both our lawyer and the network on my behalf that Josh wouldn’t be continuing with the show. Their response was positive – they said, ‘No problem. That’s fine.’ However, they requested that Christina film a scene where she tells me, Tarek, that Josh is leaving the show.
Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack acted as though she was sharing the news of the argument and the end of her marriage to Josh Hall for the very first time, however, El Moussa and his wife were already aware of the problems they were experiencing. (He had, in fact, anticipated how things would unfold.)
The Christina on the Coast star explained that producers didn’t tell her what to say, only that she needed to inform Tarek about her split with Josh. This resulted in a very honest and heartfelt discussion between the ex-couple, which viewers particularly enjoyed. Haack stated:
That scene likely took around an hour and a half to film, and it was incredibly moving – even the camera operators and crew were in tears. It was a very emotional experience. We’ve definitely spoken and apologized to each other over the years, but never on camera, and certainly not in such a raw and open way. I don’t believe he anticipated me addressing things so directly.
I won’t pretend I didn’t get a little emotional watching that scene! Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa have definitely been through a lot, but it’s wonderful to see they’ve built a solid friendship while co-parenting. It seems he was a huge source of support for her during her divorce from her third husband.
However, you probably won’t see a lot of that drama when The Flip Off Season 2 starts, because Heather Rae will likely be the one stepping in to resolve conflicts. While new episodes probably won’t be ready for the 2025 television season, expect them to arrive sometime early in the new year.
