Peacemaker Season 1 is a wild ride from the start. Once Christopher Smith is released from prison, he’s immediately faced with two major problems: stopping an alien invasion and dealing with his angry father, who holds him responsible for his brother Keith’s death. Peacemaker manages to succeed in the fight, but his overall chances of success are uncertain, as he’s left confronting his father’s ghost at the end of the season. Luckily, things aren’t as bleak when Season 2 begins, and Chris experiences a brief period of positive change. But, true to James Gunn’s style, the story quickly takes a much darker direction.
Although James Gunn’s work often has a playful tone, it can also be very impactful, so a little humor is always welcome. Peacemaker Season 2 starts with a lighthearted moment, showing all the characters dancing comically to Foxy Shazam’s “Oh Lord.” The scene has become incredibly popular online, with people editing it together with famous moments from other TV shows and films. Here are five movies and TV scenes that are even better when combined with the Peacemaker intro.
5) The Mandalorian

Similar to Peacemaker, Din Djarin frequently ends up in pretty crazy scenarios in The Mandalorian. The second season of the Disney+ series has the main character, a bounty hunter, battling a Krayt dragon – a massive creature that’s been frightening people on Tatooine. There’s a particularly brutal moment where the dragon shoots acid at a group of Tusken Raiders, killing them immediately. A user on X thought this would be the ideal spot to add the Peacemaker intro music, and they were spot on.
4) The Dark Knight

Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy avoids fantastical elements like magical creatures or alternate realities. Despite this, it contains several intensely dark scenes, for example, when Rachel Dawes is killed by The Joker while Batman manages to save Harvey Dent. The Peacemaker intro unexpectedly lightens the mood by treating Dent’s descent into becoming the villain Two-Face as comedic relief.
3) Breaking Bad

Walter White isn’t consistently a criminal genius. In the beginning of Breaking Bad, he’s largely improvising, even when dealing with something as serious as getting rid of a body. Both Walter and his accomplice, Jesse Pinkman, are left to helplessly watch as the dissolving corpse falls through the floor, creating roughly 100 new issues for the drug-producing pair. The exclamation “Oh Lord” perfectly captures the feeling of the scene, emphasizing how ridiculous everything is.
2) Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Pixar is famous for adding heartfelt moments to animated films for children, but they aren’t the only ones. Paramount also manages to pull at your heartstrings in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, particularly when Doctor Eggman sacrifices himself to prevent a global disaster. The scene shifts from deeply sad to uplifting, set to the tune of the Peacemaker intro song.
1) The Other Guys
It’s immediately clear with some movies that they’re going to be great. The Other Guys is one of those films, beginning with a scene featuring cops played by Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson. They jump from a roof, hoping to catch the criminal, but tragically fall to their deaths. If the Peacemaker introduction had followed this funny scene in cinemas, the audience likely wouldn’t have stopped laughing until the movie ended.
Peacemaker Season 2 is streaming on HBO Max.
