Taylor Swift Shares What She’s “Not Gonna Do” for Travis Kelce Wedding

Taylor Swiftis preparing for the next chapter in her love story with Travis Kelce.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show on October 3rd, the singer of “Opalite” was asked about wedding plans with the NFL, specifically if they’ve chosen a date for their marriage. She was discussing her album, The Life of a Showgirl, at the time.

“Oh, you’ll know,” Taylor shared, “I was going to invite you to it.”

Graham joked, “If you’re inviting me, it’s very big,” to which Taylor responded, “It’s huge.”

The 35-year-old also shared a little about what she envisions for her wedding-planning will begin after she finishes promoting her latest album-and explained she doesn’t want a small guest list, as she thinks smaller weddings can actually be more stressful to organize.

“I’m really thrilled about it,” Taylor shared enthusiastically. “I believe planning will be enjoyable because, in my opinion, weddings only become stressful when the guest list is limited and there’s uncertainty about who to invite.”

According to Taylor, limiting the guest list often requires you to “evaluate or assess your relationship” with individuals to determine if they should be included.

And as she summed up, “I’m not gonna do that.”

She told me it would be fun, but then she immediately seemed to regret saying it. She quickly added, “I shouldn’t have said any of that.” It was so strange – like she was sharing something she wasn’t supposed to, and then instantly trying to take it back. I’m really curious now about what she meant! Hopefully we’ll find out soon.

Although the Grammy-winning artist hasn’t begun detailed wedding planning with Travis yet, she shared quite a few details about his proposal in August. She confirmed that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end proposed on one knee in a large flower garden, on the very same day they recorded an episode of his New Heights podcast.

She remembered they recorded the podcast for roughly three to four hours. At the same time, she said, he was busy completely transforming the back garden behind his house into this.”

As for how they were able to get such incredible photos from the momentous occasion? 

Taylor explained that he’d cleverly added a hedge wall where one hadn’t existed before. Hidden within the hedges was my tour photographer, concealed in bushes that weren’t originally there. He really went above and beyond–10 out of 10.”

Oh my gosh, you guys, that little detail they included? It totally paid off! Taylor herself said, “It’s really fun that we actually have the exact moment.” I mean, can you believe it? They *actually* captured the exact moment! I’m obsessed with how much thought they put into everything. It’s just… perfect! I’ve rewatched that part like a million times, and it still gives me chills. Seriously, the attention to detail is incredible!

As a huge fan, I just *know* that if Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce ever tie the knot, it won’t be on just *any* day. It has to be a date that really *means* something to them-or at the very least, to Taylor. It just feels like she’d want that special significance!

The decision of whether Travis, who will be 36 on October 5th, continues playing in the NFL after his current contract ends in 2025 will also influence when they set their wedding date. If he doesn’t retire from football, their wedding will take place during the off-season – sometime between the Super Bowl in February and the start of training camp in July.

If Travis decides to retire after 13 seasons (wow, that feels strange to say!), he’ll be available to get married in October, which is Taylor’s favorite month. He could marry her at any time, really, but things will become clearer once fans find out if-and when-Taylor announces a tour for The Life of a Showgirl. Her twelfth studio album comes out on October 3rd, and she typically reveals tour dates about a month after a brand new album (not a re-recording) is released.

Okay, so everyone knows about Taylor’s amazing group of friends, her squad, right? I’ve been following her for years, and it’s just…iconic. But I was reading an interview – from October 2025, can you believe it? – and she actually said she hasn’t even *thought* about throwing a Bachelorette party yet! I mean, seriously? It’s mind-blowing to me that after all this time, she hasn’t planned one! I’m constantly checking for updates, obviously, but still… it’s just so unexpected!

“You’d probably assume I was one of those people who dreamed about their wedding forever,” she shared on Heart radio, “but surprisingly, I never really considered what my wedding would be like-not until I met the one.”

“So, I haven’t actually even thought about doing a hen do,” she noted of the British version of a Bachelorette party. “This is the first time I have thought about that.”

Plus, she added of her gal pals, “They’re so fun but they’re so busy.”

When Taylor picks out a white dress, it’s going to be one to remember.

Ignoring the cost of her high-end clothes and seemingly effortless jewelry, the singer’s style is approachable yet stylish. Following the ceremony, where she’ll say her vows while wearing a beautiful gown, the 5-foot-10 bride will likely change into a more comfortable party dress, perfect for dancing the night away.

Travis is also into fashion, meaning he’s excited to choose a wedding suit that really expresses his style, in whatever way he envisions it. He’s going to have fun with the process.

His choice to wear shorts when he proposed – it was a hot August day in Kansas, after all – led to some jokes online about him wearing fancy shorts at the wedding too. However, that would be a pretty unconventional thing to do, and he probably wouldn’t want to distract from the bride in her dress.

Although, if showing off his knees was important to him…

To make sure she hadn’t already chosen a tuxedo for her future spouse, Taylor explained to Cosmopolitan in 2012, “I don’t want him to question whether his presence even makes a difference.”

For Taylor and Travis, family means the world, so their parents and brothers are definitely at the top of the VIP list. Jason Kelce, likely to be the best man, has two young daughters, Wyatt and Elliotte, with his wife Kylie Kelce-and depending on the wedding date, his younger sister Bennett might also be a flower girl. (Unfortunately, baby Finnley will probably be too young to participate.)

It will be interesting to see which of Travis’ teammates from the Kansas City Chiefs are invited, but he was a groomsman at QB Patrick Mahomes‘ wedding to Brittany Mahomes in 2022, so we know at least one player from the team will be there. Plus, he’s maintained a close group of friends since his high school days in Cleveland Heights, meaning that golf-and-beer-filled bachelor party is going to be lit.

Regarding the bride, Taylor’s longtime friend Abigail Anderson has consistently been a significant presence in her life. Although Taylor’s well-known group of friends has changed over time, Selena Gomez remains part of her closest circle – they still exchange homemade sourdough bread! Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are also still close, despite reports of a falling out connected to the actress’ ongoing legal issues.

Also, when we talk about possible flower girls, it’s worth remembering that Taylor is already godmother to Blake and Ryan’s daughters.

When discussing whether to have a band or a DJ, Travis shared on the September 17th episode of New Heights, “I believe we generally prefer live music, you know?”

Regardless of if the bride decides to take a break from performing, she has many friends who are talented singers. (We’re particularly thinking of Haim.)

But Taylor joked it “would be hard to keep” Ed Sheeran from performing at her wedding. 

She explained, ‘It feels inevitable – if there’s a stage, Ed will definitely be performing on it,’ during her Hits Radio interview in October 2025. She added that he understands what his audience wants and is eager to deliver it.

Taylor may love Travis so much she’d marry him with paper rings, but that won’t be the case.

If he continues to play sports, he might wear a flexible wedding band occasionally, but generally, his fiancée’s ring-an Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond chosen by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry-is the one he’s settled on.

The engagement ring has a long, central diamond with smaller diamonds on either side. It’s set in yellow gold that has been specially engraved-and it perfectly complements the $27,300 Cartier watch Taylor had on when he proposed.

Just how massive will this white veil occasion be?

Dedicated Taylor Swift fan Nikki Glaser believes a large wedding is on the way. She told TopMob News at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, “It has to be. It’s all been leading to this.”

The comedian explained that, given how much attention Taylor Swift already receives – essentially “being a bride every day,” as he put it – the wedding will probably be kept as private as possible.

“She simply wants to share the occasion with everyone she cares about – she has a huge circle of family and friends,” Nikki explained. “I’m anticipating photos taken from a helicopter that will, in some way, disrupt her enjoyment of the day by flying overhead.”

As soon as the newly married couple leave, though, it’s a certainty that Taylor will begin posting pictures and videos from her wedding to share with her loyal fans.
