Meghan Markle is proving capes aren’t just for superheroes.
As a style enthusiast, I have to say, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, absolutely *killed* it at Paris Fashion Week 2025! She made quite the entrance on October 4th for her first-ever appearance at the Balenciaga runway show, and let me tell you, the outfit was stunning – a seriously dramatic, floor-length cape that had everyone talking. It was a moment, truly!
The flowing scarf complemented a completely white outfit, featuring a button-down shirt and coordinating pants. The 44-year-old finished the look with a black clutch and black heels, and kept her makeup simple while styling her hair in a sleek, pulled-back bun.
Meghan has been to many fashion shows in New York and Toronto over the years, but recently attended her first event at Paris Fashion Week. She was there to support Pierpaolo Piccioli, the new creative director of Balenciaga, as she has “long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance.”
According to a statement from Meghan’s spokesperson to People, the Duchess has worn several pieces designed by Pierpaolo over time. Tonight’s outfit represents the peak of their long-standing artistic collaboration and friendship, and her encouragement of his new work with Balenciaga.
Shortly after, Meghan-mother to Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, with her husband Prince Harry-caught everyone’s attention with a second outfit. This time, the With Love, Meghan star chose a black, ankle-length dress with an uneven neckline, foregoing sleeves as she left the Hôtel Plaza Athénée.
Naturally, Meghan’s passion for fashion isn’t recent. Last year, she shared her thoughts on how becoming a royal changed the way she chooses her clothes.
During events with a lot of public attention, where people closely examine what I wear,” she explained to The New York Times in August 2024, “I like to support designers who are close friends, and also help smaller, newer brands that deserve more recognition.”
“Being able to do that is incredibly impactful for me,” Meghan explained, “and it’s as simple as wearing an earring.”
