A recent news report in Japan highlighted how the game Ghost of Yotei has become significant for the Hokkaido region that served as its inspiration.
A Yodobashi employee in Sapporo says the PS5 game, released last week, is incredibly popular, selling very quickly. They expect it to be one of the year’s biggest hits on the PlayStation 5 in Japan.
The game has become so popular that local shops are now allowed to make and sell their own unique Ghost of Yotei items, such as wooden keychains and coasters. Plus, the government believes the game can attract more tourists to the area.

The island of Tsushima also saw a positive impact, with the local government recognizing developer Sucker Punch for its contributions to the area.
PlayStation recently teamed up with Klook to offer tours of real-world locations featured in the game, and it sounds like a fantastic experience we’d definitely be interested in!
