Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the One Piece manga. The One Piece manga is currently revealing important details about the God Valley Incident. Unfortunately, a new chapter (Chapter 1162) was delayed due to the author, Eiichiro Oda, needing to take a break for health reasons. It is now scheduled to be released on October 12, 2025, on the official Manga Plus app. Fans were worried about Oda being overworked, especially with both the manga and Season 2 of the live-action adaptation coming up. The recent delay suggests he hasn’t fully recovered, causing further concern for his well-being.
According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by @WSJ_manga, the next chapter of *One Piece* (Chapter 1162) will be delayed for one week. It’s common for manga artists to face health problems due to their demanding workload, which often concerns fans. While *Weekly Shonen Jump* artists like Oda typically take a break every few weeks, unexpected illnesses can lead to multiple delays in a row. *One Piece* has been published weekly since 1997, and the long schedule is clearly affecting the author’s health. After the last unexpected break, Shonen Jump apologized to readers. However, since the delay for Chapter 1163 was announced with enough notice, we might not receive an official update on the author’s condition this time.
One Piece Is Currently Featuring the God Valley Incident
The latest arc in the manga begins a flashback, revealing the story behind the death of Harald, the former, highly respected king of Elbaf, which happened over 14 years ago. His death devastated the country, and many believed Loki was responsible. Though Loki claims he’s innocent and intends to explain what really happened, the story first jumps further back in time to show Harald’s rise to power and how he became so beloved by his people.
He tried to join the World Government, but surprisingly became friends with Rocks D. Xebec, the famous pirate thought to have started the devastating God Valley Incident. Before the current story arc focusing on Elbaf, the God Valley Incident was only hinted at through flashbacks shown from Kuma’s perspective. These glimpses weren’t enough to reveal what really happened that terrible day, but the current arc promises to finally uncover the full story, with Rocks D. Xebec as a key figure.
The story reveals the Native Hunting Competition was a setup by the World Government to capture Rocks. He deliberately allowed himself to be caught to protect his wife and young son, who were also on the island. But the World Government didn’t stop there – they wanted to frame Rocks for the deaths of many innocent people to cover up their own terrible actions. Chapter 1162 will continue the battle on the island and bring us closer to understanding what ultimately happened to Rocks.
