Remedy has released a new update for Control on PS5. This update supports the features of the PS5 Pro, lets all players unlock the frame rate, and includes previously exclusive pre-order suits.
A new update is now available for the PlayStation 5 version of the game, bringing it to version 1.30. If you bought the game after it released and missed out on the pre-order bonuses, you can now get the exclusive gear for free.
We’ve made the Astral Dive Suit and Tactical Response Gear, previously only available through pre-order, generally available. You can also find the Urban Response Gear.
Whether you have a standard PS5 or a PS5 Pro, you’ll now find an option to unlock the frame rate in the settings menu. This removes the previous limits in both Quality and Performance modes, and it also adds support for VRR and 120Hz on compatible TVs. HDR support is included, along with improvements to the quality of Temporal Anti-Aliasing.
Okay, so this new patch is awesome, especially if you’ve got a PS5 Pro! They’ve added support for something called PSSR, and honestly, it makes a big difference. Remedy says it smooths out edges and makes things like hair and plants look way better. They also warn it *might* hit performance a little, but you can always turn PSSR off in the settings if you prefer how the game originally looked. It’s cool that we have the option, though!
The PS5 Pro’s Performance Mode will feature improved reflections on screen, and its texture and shadow quality have been refined.
These enhancements build on an already excellent game. In our review of Control: Ultimate Edition on PS5, we gave it an 8/10, saying: “The gameplay was already fantastic, and with significant performance improvements, Control truly feels like a next-generation game. Exploring secrets and unraveling the many mysteries within one of gaming’s most unique settings is more enjoyable than ever.”
