Paramount+ Just Added One of the Best Sci-Fi Trilogies of All Time

Over the years, science fiction has given us some truly iconic films. Movies like *War of the Worlds*, *Planet of the Apes*, and *Inception* have sparked our imaginations, transported us to incredible new worlds, and left a lasting impact on popular culture. Sci-fi is a remarkably diverse and inventive genre, with fresh stories appearing all the time, and now, one of the greatest sci-fi trilogies ever made is available to stream on Paramount+.

Starting October 1st, all three original *Men in Black* movies are available to stream on Paramount+. The films, inspired by the Marvel Comics series, follow Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith as agents of a top-secret organization dedicated to protecting Earth from aliens and keeping the existence of extraterrestrials hidden from the public. While the first three *Men in Black* films are on Paramount+, the 2019 spin-off, *Men in Black: International*, is currently only available to rent or buy on demand.

Why You Should Watch the Men in Black Trilogy

The *Men in Black* movies are consistently entertaining, striking a perfect balance between action and comedy. The series began in 1997 with Barry Sonnenfeld’s first film, which established the fantastic partnership between Agents Jones and Smith. Their contrasting personalities – Jones’s dry wit and Smith’s lively energy – made for a memorable duo throughout the trilogy. The films are particularly strong in their imaginative worldbuilding, seamlessly integrating alien life and sci-fi elements into a relatable, everyday setting. The creature designs are also impressive, brought to life with a combination of practical effects and CGI. Add to that the fast-paced action, memorable lines, and Smith’s iconic, catchy theme song, and you’ve got a truly enjoyable experience.

As a big fan of the first *Men in Black*, I always felt the sequels didn’t *quite* reach the same heights, but they’re still fun, escapist movies. *Men in Black II* especially gets a bit of a bad rap – it’s the lowest-rated of the bunch with scores around 38% from critics and 45% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and honestly, the story felt a little messy and rehashed. But I still enjoy it! Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones have amazing chemistry, the special effects are great, and it’s a good time despite its flaws. The third movie was the closest they got to recapturing the original’s magic, and it was cool to see them add some real emotional weight to the story – it scored much better with around 67% from critics and 70% from audiences.

Paramount+ New Arrivals

As a total movie buff, I’m really enjoying Paramount+. They’re constantly adding new stuff, and October 1st brought a great batch! I was excited to see the first three *Men in Black* movies pop up, but that’s not all – they also added classics like *Beowulf*, *Death at a Funeral*, *Fight Club*, *Good Will Hunting*, *Grown Ups*, the 1976 version of *King Kong*, *No Country for Old Men*, and the original *Scream* trilogy. Seriously, there’s a lot to choose from if you’re looking for a good movie night!
