The sixth episode of Season 2, “Cooking Lessons,” features unexpected twists and the return of two actors from *The Boys*. Marie reconnects with her sister Annabeth, but discovers a surprising truth about her. Meanwhile, the students are determined to overcome Dean Cipher, and a new, familiar ally might be just what they need.
Okay, finding out who that mysterious, burned person locked up at Cipher’s place is… wow, that’s going to change everything. It feels like it could either lead to total disaster or give us a real shot at winning. As we head into the second-to-last episode, I’m seriously wondering if Marie’s making the right call with what she’s doing. Is she walking into a trap, or is she actually the one who’s going to save everyone?
The Kids Are Saved By A Surprise Ally
The children have escaped Elmira, though Annabeth was hesitant to leave. However, Dean Cipher is always one step ahead, anticipating their need to contact Polarity for assistance. He manipulates Andre’s father to reveal their location, then sends the dangerous Vikor to attack. Cipher is only interested in capturing Marie, and even Sam’s dramatic entrance – bursting through a concrete wall – isn’t enough to defeat the incredibly strong and intimidating Vikor. Fortunately, Vikor finally encounters his equal in Zoe, the daughter of Victoria Neuman.
Zoe attacks, unleashing a devastating power that blinds and kills her opponent, ending the immediate danger. She feels a connection with Marie, knowing her mother also grew up at Red River orphanage. Zoe isn’t facing this alone; she’s with Stan Edgar, who’s been secretly hiding with his granddaughter since being forced out of Vought. Stan understands Homelander’s plans and has prepared a secure underground bunker to strategize. He offers Marie and the others shelter there, recognizing her importance in figuring out their next move.
We finally get some details about Cipher’s origins. The original goal, created by Thomas Godolkin, was to make controllable, incredibly powerful superheroes. It wasn’t successful at first, and only two test subjects survived: Marie and an earlier version of Homelander, created in the 1980s. This confirms that Homelander, like Marie, is a result of Project Odessa.
Godolkin May Not Have Died After All
After Godolkin’s supposed death in the accident, Cipher continued his work. He carefully rebuilt everything, but with a different purpose: to ensure only the strongest Supes survived and ultimately dominated. He wasn’t interested in controlling them, just in letting the most powerful ones win. He was using the school as a testing ground, essentially forcing a survival-of-the-fittest scenario to eliminate weaker Supes. Edgar stopped the official program when Marie was born, but Cipher kept it going in secret.
The children begin to understand something shocking: the body Cipher is preserving in the chamber could actually be Godolkin. Cipher didn’t do the research himself; he likely forced the nearly-dead Godolkin to complete it. Edgar suspects Cipher is also keeping Godolkin alive as a disturbing memento. Most crucially, if Godolkin is still alive in any way, he knows how to control and stop all Supes – making him the key to defeating Homelander.
The children are currently safe in Edgar’s bunker, but they’re still trying to figure out who they can trust and what their next move should be. Marie slipped away during the night, and Cate followed her, likely heading to Cipher’s house to investigate someone they suspect is actually Godolkin.
Where and When to Stream Gen V Season 2, Episode 7
Episode 7, titled “Hell Week,” promises to be a dramatic turning point as the season nears its end. With Marie and Cate deciding to work independently, the rest of the team will likely be thrown into chaos when they discover Marie’s absence. However, the mystery surrounding the discovered body – and the possibility that this person is connected to both Homelander and Marie – means they must act quickly, before Cipher finds him first.

What to Expect From Gen V Season 2, Episode 7
The story will probably start with Marie and Cate, who have just escaped from Edgar’s bunker. Before they head off, Cate tells Marie that Marie might be able to restore her powers. Cate believes this is important because if Godolkin – assuming that’s who it is – can’t move or talk, her mind-reading ability is the only way to find out how to control Supes like Homelander. While Marie is incredibly powerful, she can’t read minds, making Cate essential to the mission.
Perhaps Marie can heal Godolkin if her abilities are as powerful as Cipher believes. She did, after all, manage to resurrect Annabeth. It will be fascinating to see how the story unfolds, but it’s highly likely Marie’s primary goal is reaching Godolkin and stopping Cipher, even if it also means dealing with Homelander. After what happened to Annabeth, Marie is determined to take action.
Cipher constantly talks about Marie being humanity’s savior once she reaches her full potential. This raises a question: does he secretly *want* her to revive Godolkin? If she succeeds in bringing him back, hoping to stop Homelander, will it fail like so many of their plans have before, ultimately giving Cipher what he desires – Godolkin’s genius?
A couple of questions remain. Can we trust Edgar, and will he actually assist Marie and her friends? Given that another season of *The Boys* is planned, it seems unlikely Homelander will be defeated before *Gen V* concludes. However, it’s clear Edgar is trying to regain favor with Vought.
Okay, so Sister Sage taking over as CEO is definitely going to be a tough situation, I can already tell. I’m really curious to see what Annabeth can *do* with her ability to see the future – we haven’t really gotten a good look at the extent of her powers yet. I’m honestly worried about Polarity, though. It seems like his powers are really taking a toll on him, and I’m scared he might end up like his son. But honestly, I’m so happy for Sam! It’s great to see him doing better with his medication and finally feeling good about himself. He might actually have a really positive storyline this season, which is awesome.
Episode 7 promises to be the most thrilling of the season, leading into a spectacular finale that will likely pave the way for the fifth and final season of *The Boys*.
