Battlefield 6 had a hugely successful launch on October 10, 2025, with over 750,000 people playing on Steam at the same time. It looks like the Battlefield series is making a strong comeback, and that could worry Call of Duty.
Despite the initial excitement, many players experienced problems with the EA App on PC. These issues stopped the game from starting, causing frustration and a lot of complaints online.
As an Xbox player, I didn’t really experience any problems with the launch, and it seemed like PlayStation users were mostly okay too. There were some initial waits to get into the game, but once I was in, everything ran smoothly.
EA has addressed the issues with the EA App, and the CEO of Respawn even advised players to avoid using it for now. Here’s a summary of what they’ve said, and what kind of rewards EA App users can anticipate receiving.
Respawn CEO publicly slams EA app
Respawn CEO Vince Zampella shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) about problems with the EA App that prevented players from getting into Battlefield 6, according to Insider Gaming.
Some players are currently unable to access the game and are seeing a message about needing to buy additional content. Our team is looking into this problem and will share updates as soon as they’re available. Thanks for your understanding!

In response, Zampella wrote:
I have yelled about ea app people. Any suggestions on next levels of escalation?
Vince Zampella – CEO of Respawn Entertainment
Zampella responded to upset players by suggesting they request a refund and purchase the game on Steam, acknowledging that the four-hour access problems were not okay. He also shared that EA’s CEO, Andrew Wilson, was equally frustrated with the situation.
The EA app had a pretty rough launch, particularly since Steam users didn’t experience the same problems. Hopefully, Sean Zampella won’t be criticized for pointing out these issues – over six hours of delays is a significant problem that deserves attention.
EA Responds and Fixes the Outage

I saw that EA fixed the problems with logging into the EA app and accessing downloadable content after about four hours. Even after the fix, some players were still having trouble for up to six hours, though.
The team behind Battlefield has apologized for the recent issues and is giving affected players a way to make up for the trouble. Players will receive twelve Hardware Boosts and twelve Career Boosts, each lasting 60 minutes, and these should be delivered over the weekend.
I’ve learned that players impacted by the issue will get the current seasonal Battle Pass completely free. And for those who bought the Phantom Edition, they’ll also receive the Battle Pass for Season 2 as a way to make things right.
It’s difficult to imagine what more EA could have done to resolve the issue, but this is a positive step, at least. Let’s hope players don’t experience further difficulties. More importantly, though, what do the affected fans actually think?
Players respond to Battlefield 6’s rocky start

At first, fans were frustrated, but once the issue was fixed, some players pointed out that the disruption wasn’t as severe as problems experienced with earlier Battlefield game releases.
It’s still annoying to pay full price for something and then have to wait hours to actually get it, no matter how you try to justify it. One player commented that people were overreacting, pointing out that launches for the game Battlefield were often much worse.
Someone else said, “With how quickly things change now, I didn’t really expect anyone to admit a mistake or offer any kind of help.”
Despite low expectations, players generally appreciated the compensation EA offered after the service was restored.
