Britney Spears is focused on family till the world ends.
I was really struck by Britney’s recent post. After Kevin Federline publicly voiced worries about her, she shared something so powerful – she encouraged all of us to create our own families, the ones who *truly* support and respect us, if we’re not getting that from the family we were born into. It felt like such a relatable message, and honestly, really inspiring.
Britney shared a message on Instagram on October 14th, saying you should respect your parents, but also prioritize your own well-being. She emphasized that respect is earned, stating you only need to honor parents who have shown you respect in return. If they haven’t, she suggests finding support and connection elsewhere, creating your own chosen family.
Just hours before Britney Spears shared a puzzling post on Instagram, her ex-husband Kevin Federline grabbed headlines. An upcoming passage from his memoir, *You Thought You Knew* (scheduled for release on October 21st), claims that Britney allegedly watched their sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, while holding a knife.
He described how they would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night to find her standing in the doorway, silently watching them sleep. She’d ask, “Oh, you’re awake?” while holding a knife, then simply turn and walk away without saying anything.
Kevin, who has four children – Kori, 21, and Kaleb, 19, with his former fiancée Shar Jackson, and Jordan, 12, and Peyton, 9, with his wife Victoria Prince – also shared that it’s increasingly difficult to hide his concern for Britney. Britney’s 13-year legal conservatorship, overseen by her father Jamie Spears, ended in November 2021 after a large online movement called for her freedom. Since then, Britney and her father have reportedly been estranged.

He expressed serious concern about Britney’s well-being, saying things are quickly heading towards a point of no return. He feels time is running out, and he’s worried a crisis is coming. His biggest fear is that their sons will be left to deal with the aftermath.
Okay, so when Kevin tried to trash Britney with those claims in his book, her team *immediately* shut it down! They basically said it was all a pathetic attempt for him to make money off their old relationship – just using her to sell copies, honestly. It’s infuriating, but honestly, I expected nothing less from him. Britney deserves so much better!
Following the announcement of Kevin Federline’s new book, a representative for Britney Spears expressed concern that he and others are once again benefiting from her story, especially now that child support payments have concluded. The representative stated that Britney’s sole focus remains the well-being of her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, amidst what she considers exploitative media coverage. She shared her personal experiences and perspective in her recently released memoir, *The Woman in Me*.
Read on for many of the revelations Britney shared in her 2023 memoir.

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake first met as children while performing together on Disney Channel’s *The Mickey Mouse Club* in the early 1990s. Other cast members at the time included Christina Aguilera, as well as slightly older performers like Keri Russell, Ryan Gosling, and Tony Lucca.
Britney writes that she and Justin first kissed during a game of Truth or Dare at a sleepover with the cast, and it’s ironic that a Janet Jackson song was playing at the time. This happened years before they actually started dating, while Britney was touring with *NSYNC.

Britney recounts a particularly painful experience during her relationship with Justin: she became pregnant and had an abortion because he felt they were too young to raise a child. She describes undergoing the procedure at home, recalling Justin playing guitar while she was in immense pain – a moment she calls one of the most difficult of her life.
She’s still questioning whether she did the right thing. She admitted that if it were her decision alone, she wouldn’t have gone through with it, but Justin was adamant about not wanting to be a father.
TopMob News reached out to Justin’s rep and did not immediately hear back.
With headlines focusing on stories about Justin Timberlake in Britney Spears’ new book, sources say the 42-year-old is recording new music. He and his wife, Jessica Biel, are also doing well and staying busy raising their two sons, 8-year-old Silas and 2-year-old Phineas.

Britney feels Justin broke up with her very casually, like many celebrities do – with a quick, thoughtless message, as if it were just a temporary note.
She was so “devastated,” she recalls, she “could barely speak for months.”
After returning to her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana, to heal from the breakup, Britney says Justin flew to see her and delivered a framed letter. The letter reportedly ended with him writing, “I can’t breathe without you.”

Britney reflects on the aftermath of her breakup with Justin, referencing the accusations in his “Cry Me a River” music video. She describes feeling numb and lost in Louisiana while he seemed to be thriving in Hollywood.
She refers to a particularly awkward interview with Diane Sawyer from November 2003. Her father and manager set it up, and during the interview, Sawyer intensely questioned her about the hurt she allegedly inflicted on Justin, which she now sees as a turning point in her life.
“I felt like I had been exploited,” she writes, “set up in front of the whole world.”

Britney has confirmed long-standing rumors that she kissed dancer and choreographer Wade Robson at a bar while she was with Justin Timberlake. However, she believes the rumors about Justin being unfaithful led her to seek attention elsewhere.
Otherwise, she writes, she was faithful to Justin.

Britney claims that despite appearances – when she was often seen partying with Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and others – she wasn’t struggling with alcohol. Instead, she says she misused her ADHD medication, Adderall, to briefly feel better about her depression.

Twenty years ago, it was widely known that Britney Spears and Colin Farrell were having an affair. She describes it as a very passionate, though brief, relationship lasting a couple of weeks.
Britney describes the scene as a chaotic struggle, saying they were all tangled together and fighting with intense energy, almost like a street brawl.
She later admitted she still had feelings for Justin when she went to the premiere of *The Recruit* with Colin on January 28, 2003. While talking to reporters, Colin described their relationship as platonic, calling her a “very sweet girl” but clarifying they weren’t dating.
In her memoir, *The Woman in Me*, Britney Spears shares that she briefly hoped for a real connection, but her romantic struggles contributed to a growing sense of isolation and constant awkwardness.
TopMob News has reached out to Colin’s rep for comment but did not hear back.

Britney admits she was bored and heavily intoxicated when she spontaneously married her childhood friend, Jason Alexander, in Las Vegas in January 2004. The marriage was quickly canceled just 55 hours later.
She was surprised by her family’s over-the-top reaction – it felt like a huge deal, as if she’d caused a major conflict – but she thought it was all harmless fun.
Jason was arrested for trespassing on the day Britney Spears married Sam Asghari at her home on June 9, 2022, and he accepted the charges without formally admitting guilt.

In February 2007, Britney Spears famously shaved her head at a salon near Los Angeles. This dramatic act was a reaction to years of being constantly judged and treated as a sexual object, something she’d experienced since becoming a public figure as a young woman. She’s mentioned that she started taking Prozac around the time her album *Oops…I Did It Again* became incredibly popular, to help cope with the intense public attention.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen firsthand how damaging body image issues can be, and I really relate to this woman’s story. She shared that, starting in her teens, she constantly faced unwanted scrutiny and comments about her appearance. It sounds like she felt powerless, and her way of reclaiming control – shaving her head and acting out – was actually a really brave attempt to push back against that negativity and take charge of her own narrative.
She was deeply heartbroken while fighting with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, for custody of their sons, Sean and Jayden, who are now 18 and 17.
Looking back on those difficult weeks after her children, she admits she repeatedly fell apart and didn’t know how to cope. She famously lashed out at a photographer, hitting his car with an umbrella – an incident made even more public by her new hairstyle. She remembers her thinking becoming increasingly simple and immature as she struggled with severe postpartum depression and the breakdown of her marriage.
Kevin was later granted sole physical custody of their kids on Oct. 1, 2007.

In February 2008, Britney Spears was placed under a conservatorship. This followed a period of concern, including two involuntary psychiatric holds in January of that year, and the arrangement was later made permanent.
Britney Spears has said she pleaded with the court to have someone – anyone – other than her father, Jamie Spears, appointed as her conservator. Andrew Wallet served as a co-conservator alongside him until March 2019.
She decided to stop trying to get out of her legal obligations quickly because she wanted to see her children again as soon as she could.
Honestly, giving up some of my own freedom to spend quiet moments napping with my kids? It was a deal I jumped at. They truly are everything to me – more important than anything else in the world. I’d do absolutely anything for them, even give my life.

Britney pointed out the absurdity of the conservatorship, explaining that she wasn’t allowed to choose her own partner, yet was considered capable of working on TV shows, performing for large audiences, and touring the world every week.
Britney eventually realized she felt her father viewed her solely as a source of income.
She claims she wasn’t permitted to alter the songs she performed, even when she requested to do so, during her very popular Las Vegas show at Planet Hollywood.
She explains that music was everything to her, but the conservatorship was incredibly damaging, essentially destroying her spirit.
Jamie previously served as Britney’s co-conservator, but took a break in 2019 due to health problems and fully resigned in September 2021. He has repeatedly said he always believed his choices were what was best for her.

Britney describes how every aspect of her life, from her prescribed medications to the settings on her phone, was closely watched and dictated to her. She emphasizes the all-encompassing nature of this control, stating simply, ‘Everything.’
She claims her father’s criticism of her weight was particularly painful. “It stung more coming from him than from the media,” she explains. “He constantly told me I was overweight and needed to change.”
For most of the 13 years Britney was under conservatorship, she didn’t speak about what her life was like. However, she claims she did attempt to share her side of the story on one occasion.
She recalls bringing up the conservatorship during a 2016 television interview, but that portion was never broadcast. She finds this quite curious.

Britney describes being forced into rehab in early 2019. She says her father told her she’d face court and public embarrassment if she didn’t go. Once there, she was prescribed lithium and held for months, feeling she had no choice in the matter.
She explained that she was severely limited in what she could do. She wasn’t able to leave the house or drive, and required weekly blood donations. Even simple things like taking a private bath or having privacy in her own room were impossible.
According to her own writings, Britney texted her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, from the facility, desperately asking for help. Jamie Lynn reportedly replied, advising her to accept the situation, stating, ‘Stop fighting it. There’s nothing you can do about it, so stop fighting it.’
Britney was deeply hurt, feeling let down by her sister, Jamie Lynn, and their father. She couldn’t understand how close they had become, especially since she had asked Jamie Lynn for support and expected her to be on her side.
In early 2022 the siblings publicly sparred over Jamie Lynn’s memoir, Things I Should Have Said.
In her book, Britney says Jamie Lynn publicly shared damaging and untrue stories about her. Despite this, Britney insists she still loves her sister and is trying to replace anger with compassion, not just towards Jamie Lynn, but towards anyone she feels has hurt her – though she admits it’s a difficult process.
I’ve been following the story closely, and TopMob News actually got a statement from Jamie Lynn herself. She shared on TopMob’s *Daily Pop* back in 2022 that things with Britney can be up and down, but she emphasized that they always have love and support for each other at the core of their relationship. It’s good to hear her say that, honestly.

Britney discovered the #FreeBritney movement while in rehab in 2019. A nurse showed her videos on YouTube that revealed fans were actively campaigning for her freedom.
Britney followed the growing public debate about her conservatorship as time passed.
Watching the documentaries made about my life was difficult,” she explained. “I know everyone involved had good intentions, but I was upset that some former friends talked to the filmmakers without speaking to me beforehand. It felt like a lot of assumptions were made about my thoughts and feelings.

Britney remembers feeling a huge sense of relief when Jamie was removed as her co-conservator in September 2021. She explains that the man who had frightened her when she was a child and controlled her as an adult – and who had deeply damaged her self-esteem – was finally no longer able to control her life.
On November 12, 2021, while at a resort in Tahiti, she received a call from her lawyer with the news that the court had officially ended the legal arrangement that controlled her life.

Britney enjoys the freedom to share anything she likes on social media, and sometimes that includes tastefully covered-up nude photos.
As someone who’s spent a lot of time in the public eye, I often get questions about why I choose to photograph myself – whether it’s nude or just trying out a new look. Honestly, it’s about reclaiming control. After being photographed *by* others for so long, constantly being directed and posed for their vision, there’s something incredibly empowering about deciding how *I* want to be seen. It’s pure joy to pose in a way that *I* feel beautiful and confident, and then have the freedom to do with those images whatever I choose.

Britney says the conservatorship caused her both physical and emotional harm, and she continues to experience migraines as a result.
“I don’t think my family understands the real damage that they did,” she writes.
She truly values her freedom, whether it’s simply disconnecting from social media without causing a fuss, or having the space to learn from her errors.
She explains that freedom means she no longer feels pressured to impress anyone, whether in public or in private. It’s about accepting her own imperfections, just like everyone else, and having the power to find happiness however she chooses, and on her own schedule.
