Shonda Rhimes is looking back at a challenging time in her life.
Around ten years ago, Shonda Rhimes, the creator of shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, realized she was living an unhealthy lifestyle and worried about its impact on her health. As she recently shared with Robin Roberts, this prompted her to make positive changes, both for herself and for her three children: Harper, 22, and her younger children, Emerson, 12, and Beckett, 11.
The 55-year-old shared at an event on October 14th that she previously feared she wouldn’t live another ten years. She explained that she felt so unwell, she couldn’t even do simple things with her child, like give them a piggyback ride, which was very concerning to her, according to *People* magazine.
As the producer explained, she once struggled walking up the stairs.
Shonda explained that she eventually reached a point where she felt really awful. She developed sleep apnea, waking up frequently and choking during the night. This led her to realize she needed to make a change.
And she did.
I was so inspired when Shonda Rhimes shared that she’d lost 117 pounds back in 2015! She wrote about it in her memoir, *Year of Yes*, and one story really stuck with me. She said after losing just 50 pounds, she felt so energetic she actually *ran* up and down the walls of her house with her little one, Emerson, on her back! She couldn’t even imagine doing that just four months before, and it was such a powerful example of how weight loss could truly change your life.
Shonda told Robin that the experience was incredibly meaningful, a moment of both relief and self-discovery she’d never forget. She described feeling a renewed sense of herself as she witnessed the other person’s happiness and realized she had accomplished something important.
At the time, Shonda further explained the reason behind her lifestyle change.
“I have some little kids,” she told Extra in 2015, “and I wanted to be around for them.”
As for how she dropped the weight? Exercise and eating in moderation.
I completely changed my diet, and I really disliked it. I also started exercising, even though I hated it the entire time, and I still do. I genuinely despise every second of it.
I eat whatever I want, but I focus on eating smaller portions. Over time, my tastes have changed, and now I actually crave healthy foods like fish and salad. As a result, I have more energy and feel great.

She said she completely changed her diet, and didn’t enjoy it at all. She also started exercising, which she equally disliked, and still does. She really hates every part of the process.

The Bravo host detailed his health and fitness journey using an Ozempic-like drug.
During a September 2025 interview on his SiriusXM radio show, Andy Cohen Live, the 57-year-old revealed he had lost a significant amount of weight over the summer by using a GLP-1 medication. He explained that he had been unhappy with his weight and, after discussing it with his doctor last year, decided to try the medication. His doctor had previously recommended it not only to help with weight loss, but also to address plaque buildup in his arteries and manage high blood pressure. Cohen stated the medication offers several health benefits and he ultimately agreed to start using it.
Honestly, this has been a game-changer for me when it comes to cravings. I was seriously struggling before, and it’s really helped me push myself to be more consistent with both my diet and exercise. It’s made a huge difference in my ability to stay on track.
The singer shared in November 2024 that he had lost 120 pounds.
Jelly Roll explained he shared his personal challenges openly, specifically on his wife Bunnie XO’s podcast, *Dumb Blonde*, because he wants to be honest with people about his difficulties.
He explained that his success wasn’t *because* of his weight, but rather *despite* it. He wanted everyone to understand that he overcame that challenge to achieve his goals.
The talk show host recently shared that she’s been prioritizing her health and has lost weight after learning she was pre-diabetic. She told *People* magazine that she’s been following her doctor’s advice, something she hadn’t consistently done for a couple of years. She also mentioned that she sticks to a high-protein diet most of the time, which she finds beneficial for her overall well-being.
She is a Texas girlie after all, “so I like meat—sorry, vegetarians in the world!”
The mother of River and Remington is settling into her new life in New York City and enjoying the change of pace. She joked that walking around the city is a great way to exercise, and she’s been focusing on wellness lately, including infrared saunas and a new cold plunge – something everyone convinced her to try!
She decided against taking the popular weight loss drug, even though her doctor encouraged it for two years. ‘I was scared of it because I already have thyroid issues,’ she shared on *The Kelly Clarkson Show* in May 2024. While many assume it was Ozempic, she clarified it was a different medication—one that helps her body process sugar more effectively.
Everyone’s getting health advice from a media icon who’s feeling fantastic! She’s sharing what helps her stay healthy, and it’s not just one thing. As she told Entertainment Tonight, it’s a combination of things – including treadmill workouts, hiking, drinking plenty of water, and eating nutritious foods. She emphasizes that it’s *everything* working together.
Oprah Winfrey recently shared that she’s using a weight loss medication, though she hasn’t revealed which one. In an interview with *People* magazine, she described it as a welcome relief, a turning point, and a positive development after years of struggling with weight and facing public criticism. She emphasized that she’s finished with the shame and judgment, both from others and herself.
The HGTV personality demonstrated a remarkable life change by sharing details of his two-year fitness journey in an Instagram post from July 2023.
He explained that sometimes what feels like the right path actually requires a change in direction to help you improve. While he used to do hot yoga with his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, he realized he hadn’t been following a consistent plan, monitoring his diet, or getting any professional advice.
Nutritionist Sean Torbati emphasizes the importance of both a healthy diet and regular exercise, like hot yoga, which he does once or twice a week to boost his mental and physical wellbeing. He believes that staying motivated and persistent is key to achieving results.
He had a turning point when he truly understood how much he wanted to improve his health and well-being – not just for himself, but for his family and future. That’s when he committed fully to making it happen!
The cohost of *The View* shared that she used Mounjaro, a drug for type 2 diabetes, to lose weight after gaining weight in 2021.
She revealed on a recent talk show that she weighed nearly 300 pounds while filming Till. She explained that she had been using steroids and other substances, and that the weight loss medication Mounjaro has been a key part of her weight loss journey.
Okay, let’s talk about feeling your best! As someone who follows health and wellness trends, I’ve noticed a lot of buzz around this Grammy-winning artist’s incredible transformation. She’s been really open about how she achieved it, and it’s a combination of things – she focused on eating well, getting regular exercise, and also incorporated a weight loss medication from the GLP-1 family. It’s inspiring to see someone take charge of their health and share their journey!
In a March 2025 Instagram post, she shared that she’s feeling great after making significant changes to her lifestyle following her second pregnancy. These changes included working with a nutritionist, starting a fitness routine with a trainer, and utilizing medication (specifically mentioning Mounjaro) along with other support.
The reality star is confident in herself, with or without anyone’s approval. She recently addressed rumors about weight loss, posting on Instagram in February, “I really don’t like talking about this, but I haven’t had any surgery or medical procedures to lose weight.”
Although she’s lost 100 pounds, bringing her weight down from 385 to 285, including 50 pounds after her mother, Barbara “Babs” Thore, passed away in December 2022, she’s been at 285 pounds for nearly a year.
Simply put, she said, “I appreciate the nice things you’ve said, but I’m not comfortable focusing on appearances – either my own or anyone else’s.”
The actress, known for her attractiveness everywhere from Cleveland to Los Angeles, recently shared her thoughts on body image in a February Instagram post.
The Food Network host shared a bikini photo from 2014 and discussed her weight, saying she’s 5’4” and used to weigh 150 pounds. She explained she no longer weighs herself, because while that weight is considered ‘overweight’ by some standards, she doesn’t care about those standards and regrets having worried about them for so long.
Free from the stress of dieting, she realized she was a kind, funny, and thoughtful person. She emphasized that your worth and personality should never be defined by your size or weight – you are already enough, exactly as you are.
As for anyone that might not agree, she summed up, “F–k ‘em.”
The musician says he feels fantastic and like a rockstar after losing 55 pounds. In an April 2023 Instagram post, he admitted people have been asking about his weight loss and how it affects his performances. He shared that he’s really enjoying performing and feels healthier than ever.
He explained that becoming a father in 2022 was a major motivation for his lifestyle changes. He decided to quit soda and improve his diet, wanting to be healthy and live a long life for his daughter. He plans to tackle quitting smoking and cutting back on alcohol next, but says he’s taking things one step at a time.
She admitted feeling a lot of pressure to lose weight after giving birth to her son, Sidney, in November 2022. She told TopMob News that losing 85 pounds became her main focus. She explained she became fixated on it because she simply wanted to avoid being talked about and just be left alone.
Okay, so she doesn’t exactly *advise* anyone to go as hard as she did, and honestly, she admitted it was brutal! She said it took *so* much effort, it was genuinely miserable, and she was constantly starving. But… she also said she’s *so* happy with how it turned out. I mean, she suffered, but look at the results! It was totally worth it, in her words, even if I don’t think I could do it!
The actor, known for his role in *Roseanne*, has experienced many ups and downs with his health. He used to lose a significant amount of weight – 60 or 70 pounds – over three months, then fall back into unhealthy habits. As he explained in 2017, he decided to take a different approach this time, focusing on gradual changes like exercise and movement. He realized he needs to stay active as he gets older.
He’s kept off 200 pounds by making healthy choices: he walks a lot and follows a Mediterranean diet rich in fish, vegetables, and nuts. He told *Men’s Health* that staying healthy feels like ongoing recovery, but he embraces it because it’s something he enjoys.
Following his type 2 diabetes diagnosis and the loss of his father and brother to heart attacks, the host of *The Price Is Right* decided to improve his diet and focus on healthy eating.
He told Entertainment Tonight his secret to success was cutting out all carbohydrates. That meant no bread, pizza, corn, beans, or even a single cracker! He stuck to a diet of egg whites or Greek yogurt with a little fruit, and did a lot of cardio each day. He admitted to a few slip-ups, but generally avoided carbs completely.
And to wash it all down, “I don’t drink anything but water,” he said. “No coffee, no tea, no soda.”
After losing an incredible 440 pounds, the star of *1000-lb Sisters* has achieved some amazing new experiences, which have been shared on her TLC show. These include flying on a plane, being able to buckle her seatbelt and sit in the front seat of a car, riding in a hot air balloon, and enjoying rides at Disney World.
You know, I’ve been thinking a lot about appreciating the little things lately. It’s easy to take everyday tasks for granted, but honestly, even something as simple as being able to buckle my seatbelt without needing an extender feels huge to me. It’s been years since I could do that comfortably, so it’s a really big win!
I’m really proud of what I’ve accomplished,” the reality star explained. “I worked hard to lose the weight and now I’m finally enjoying life to the fullest. It feels good to actually be living!”
The *Vanderpump Rules* star is focusing on health and wellness. Although she’s back on the Jenny Craig plan and hopes to see progress, she told TopMob News in February that her main goal is to be a good role model for her son. While losing weight would be a bonus, she wants to prioritize healthy habits for her and Jax Taylor’s son, Cruz.
The future star of *The Valley* explained, “I really want to model a healthy lifestyle for him. Exercise is a huge part of my well-being, both physically and mentally, and I believe starting a positive, healthy journey is incredibly valuable.”
All her hard work and dedication to strength training has clearly paid off for the musician, resulting in a noticeable physical transformation.
In a 2023 interview with *People*, the star shared how proud they are of their progress. They explained that staying fit is now a natural part of their daily life, thanks to consistent effort and a commitment to their well-being.
She’s been working incredibly hard, and mentioned she might start offering intense fitness classes, which she playfully calls ‘Hottie Bootcamp.’ She described one workout as a challenging combination of exercises like deadlifts, jump rope, lunges, and mountain climbers. In a video, she jokingly said the workout was extremely difficult, but added that it was helping to build strong legs.
When the pandemic began in March 2020, just a few months after the *Pretty Little Liars* actress had her first daughter, Atlas, she admitted to TopMob News that she felt incredibly unmotivated. With everything suddenly stopping, she decided to just let go and not worry about it.
She abandoned her workout routine and healthy eating habits. After a few months of having a baby, she fell into a pattern of unhealthy eating throughout 2020, and it left her feeling unhappy with her body. She longed to feel good about herself again.
She was excited but also a little unsure when she first heard about trying Openfit’s 4 Weeks of Focus program with trainer Kelsey Heenan.
After consistently starting her days for a month with warm water and lemon, plus a 30-minute workout combining cardio, strength training, and HIIT, she realized she’d become a believer in the routine. She explained that she’s always been active, but this felt different. “I was amazed,” she said. “I’ve never lifted weights that heavy before – 40 or 50 pounds!” She also adopted a flexible approach to healthy eating, allowing herself treats like pizza, even adding spinach to make it a bit healthier.
The fitness influencer, known online as Fat Girl Fed Up, recently shared on Instagram that she didn’t reach her weight loss goal of dropping below 200 pounds. Despite this, she decided to focus on her progress and still celebrate her achievements. She emphasizes that setbacks shouldn’t overshadow positive steps forward.
She reminded herself that any step forward counts, even if it’s a small one. She acknowledged a tough week, but stayed positive, reasoning that just as she didn’t gain weight quickly, she won’t lose it quickly either. Her mantra was to simply keep moving forward, regardless of the challenges.
She’s confident she can achieve her health goals. “I’m going to reach my ideal state,” she declared. “It might take a week or a year, but we’ll get there eventually. Just keep moving forward, believe in yourself, and focus on making progress, not striving for perfection.”
The *Queer Eye* star made significant progress on their fitness journey, getting healthier and stronger so they could attempt more challenging gymnastics moves.
In an August 2022 TikTok video showcasing their impressive weight loss, they revealed they’d been working with a nutritionist since April and had lost 35 pounds. They explained their motivation was to improve their physique for gymnastics and their career.
They did warn, though, not to expect instant results. The author of *Love That Story* shared that it took three weeks of consistent effort before they noticed any difference. So, if you’re hoping to see a change, be prepared to commit to working out and eating differently for at least three weeks before you see results.
Before turning thirty in 2022, the former Disney Channel star decided to start a new fitness plan.
The actor, who is married to model Barbara Palvin, shared an Instagram post in April explaining that he used to be self-conscious about his body as a child and would even wear a shirt while swimming. He decided in his late twenties to transform his physique and embrace a more muscular build, calling the post his ‘meat head post’.
It was a tough workout with weights and kettlebells, but he’s proud of how far he’s come and plans to keep going.
Everyone has ups and downs, and life isn’t always flawless. This became clear when the actress openly shared on Instagram in January 2024 that she had regained about 13.6 kilograms after successfully reaching her goal weight of 75 kilograms back in 2020.
Oh my gosh, I was so bummed to hear Rebel Wilson say she’s been struggling! She’s been working SO hard, you know? She told everyone how she finally kicked her emotional eating and switched to a really healthy diet packed with protein. But now, with all this filming, it’s been tough for her to keep up with her boxing and hiking, and she admitted she’s lost a little focus on staying healthy. It’s just so relatable, even for a superstar like her!
Wilson confessed that stress caused them to gain weight, which made them feel down about themselves – even though they knew it shouldn’t. “It just does,” they said.
Giving up his favorite beers? Okay. And dedicating himself to intense daily workouts – like the P90X program, kickboxing, and running – as he told *Men’s Journal*? Absolutely.
For Chris Pratt, the most challenging aspect of his 60-pound weight loss—going from his role as Andy Dwyer in *Parks and Recreation* to a superhero in *Guardians of the Galaxy*—was the massive amount of water he had to drink: one ounce for every pound he weighed each day.
“I was peeing all day long, every day,” he explained. “That part was a nightmare,”
Even though he was already somewhat known, like Cher Horowitz might say, the actor who starred in *Clueless* realized fans were surprised to learn he’d be playing Ant-Man, Marvel’s newest superhero.
Paul Rudd has said that when he was cast in the movie, many people were surprised, reacting with something like, ‘Paul Rudd? A superhero? Seriously?’ He shared this with Variety magazine back in 2015.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen this work wonders for transformations! A client recently described his training like this: he basically adopted the ‘Chris Pratt method’ – total dedication, meaning cutting out *all* enjoyable activities for a year. It’s intense, but then you’ve truly earned the right to feel – and look – like a hero. It’s about sacrifice for a goal!
After having her older children, the author of the *Just Eat* book returned to the South Beach Diet to help her feel like herself again. She told TopMob News that the high-protein plan worked quickly. “I started the program, worked out, and immediately felt better,” she said.
Before anything else, she’s focused on enjoying the time after giving birth. Decker, a mother of four – Vivianne, Eric Jr., Forrest, and newborn Denver (born in February 2024) – emphasizes, “New moms should not worry about losing weight. Focus on feeding your baby, bonding with your baby, and letting your body heal. You’ll naturally know when you’re ready to think about fitness. Don’t let your mind pressure you to lose weight – you’ll feel when you have the energy to be active again.”
He’s been enjoying the results of his workouts, including a noticeable six-pack. The 90-minute training sessions and a switch to a healthier diet – focusing on lean protein, plenty of vegetables, and cutting out sugary drinks – have been key. As he told *People* magazine, it’s been a genuinely healthy change.
What really motivates him is achieving a long list of personal goals. He’s particularly passionate about the outdoors, explaining, ‘I want to be in good enough shape to climb challenging rock faces in Yosemite.’ He also dreams of hiking the entire Pacific Crest Trail, a route that stretches from Mexico to Canada along the American coast and back.
After giving birth to her daughter Kingsley in September 2022, the former *Twilight* star realized something important: she acknowledged in an Instagram post in January 2023 that her body wouldn’t fully return to how it was before, and she was coming to terms with that.
If she ever feels overwhelmed, she has a coping mechanism that’s just as valuable as getting back in shape after having a baby.
She told TopMob News that looking into her daughter’s eyes – whom she affectionately calls her “sweet angel” – helps her appreciate the good instead of focusing on her own flaws. It’s a trick she uses because it’s easy to be too hard on yourself, no matter what you do.
