Marvel Just Secretly Set Up the Return of the Most Evil X-Men Hero

Beast is a founding member of the X-Men and continues to be a fan favorite. He’s always been a compelling character – a gentle, intelligent giant full of contradictions. While he originally appeared as an optimistic and kind-hearted member of the team, Beast has evolved over time. Faced with constant danger and loss, Hank McCoy became more driven, and even paranoid, determined to protect mutants at any cost.

During the Krakoan Age, Beast committed terrible acts, including cruel experiments on aliens and actions that qualified as war crimes – even wiping an entire country off the map. He became a full-fledged villain, and people longed for the hero he once was. A solution was found by creating a clone of Beast, one who only remembered his heroic past, and this clone helped defeat the villainous original and his clone army. The original Beast seemingly died a hero, but I believe Marvel has secretly brought him back in the latest X-Men storyline, “Age of Revelation.”

The Mysterious Leader of 3K

Throughout the ‘From the Ashes’ storyline, Cyclops’s X-Men have been fighting a group called 3K. This organization aims to turn all humans into mutants and eliminate humanity by the year 3000. Led by a mysterious figure known as the Chairman, 3K has gathered many of the X-Men’s old foes, including Wyre, Astra, and Cassandra Nova. They see themselves as the rightful successors to Krakoa and truly believe their actions will benefit mutants. The Chairman has also tried to bring clone Beast onto their side, demonstrating a deep understanding of the X-Men, a strong background in genetics, and a firm belief in their cause.

The evidence strongly suggests the Chairman is actually the Prime Beast, reborn in a secret cloned body. If true, this means the Prime Beast may have already been operating among the X-Men during the events of “Age of Revelation.” The story begins when Cyclops and Beast are suddenly pulled ten years into a bleak future to prevent this “Revelation” from happening. Although Cyclops behaves as fans know him from the main *X-Men* series, Beast is acting very differently.

A Beast in Hero’s Clothing

The first sign that this future version of Beast isn’t the friendly, lighthearted character we know is how he reacted to arriving. He immediately became furious and had to be held back, which is very out of character for him. Interestingly, he was brought here first, almost as if his future self anticipated this outburst and wanted to keep it secret from Cyclops. Adding to the mystery, Beast seemed strangely sentimental around Cyclops, reminiscing about “the good old days.” This is odd, considering he’s currently teammates with Cyclops, and their shared history isn’t that distant.

Honestly, it’s really unsettling how interested Beast is in that mutant virus – the same one 3K is trying to create! And when we showed him future tech, he acted like he already knew it all, recognizing the work of himself and other Marvel scientists, even though his clone kept saying he wasn’t up to speed. But the worst part? When that terrifying Angel of Death Wolverine showed up and X-Men started falling, Beast didn’t even *try* to save them or show any grief. It’s so out of character, considering how much he usually hates death and tries to prevent it. It’s like something’s seriously wrong with him.

The most telling clue is how he interacted with Jen Starkley. She’s an artificial mutant created by 3K, and she and Beast were in a romantic relationship right before the “Age of Revelation.” However, he only referred to her as “Ms. Starkley,” which feels distant – something a boyfriend wouldn’t do. It’s more like how the scientist who created her would speak to her. This is particularly strange because Hank using Jen’s name for the first time was a significant moment in their relationship, and the fact that he doesn’t do so here suggests this isn’t the Beast she knows.

It’s still unclear why the Prime Beast was brought to the future or what he’s planning. However, since Swartzchild – one of the Chairman’s X-Men – was responsible, it strongly suggests that the Prime Beast is the X-Men’s latest foe.
