Okay, so listen, *Tron: Ares* has some serious star power, and it’s not just Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges. You’d think after naming them, figuring out the other Oscar winners would be tough, right? You might guess Greta Lee or Jodie Turner-Smith – they both deserve awards, honestly – or maybe Evan Peters or Gillian Anderson. But here’s the twist: the other two Academy Award winners are Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the guys from Nine Inch Nails! They have a super quick cameo, so keep your eyes peeled – you could easily miss them!
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, known for their Oscar-winning scores for films like *The Social Network* and *Soul*, created the electronic music for *Tron: Ares*, and it was a highlight of the movie. I was surprised to discover, only during the end credits, that one of the most important rock bands in American history also made an appearance.
So, where are they exactly?
Trent Reznor And Atticus Ross Play Fighter Pilots In The Tron: Ares Climax
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails created a standout movie score for Tron: Ares – their first under the NIN name. They also took on acting roles as the F-35 pilots trying to stop Athena (Jodie Turner-Smith) during her final attack. In the film, she uses a Recognizer to locate Ares (Jared Leto) and Eve Kim (Greta Lee) and obtain the code that would make her existence permanent.
It’s hard to make out who they are – their faces are hidden by helmets and oxygen masks – as their planes fall from the sky after colliding with the glowing drones. But the end credits confirm their identities.

Don’t Worry, You’re Not The Only One Who Missed It
I won’t pretend I recognized them right away – I actually didn’t notice Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross were involved until someone else pointed it out. And from talking to others since seeing *Tron: Ares*, it seems like a lot of people missed it too, so you’re definitely not the only one!
If you’re interested in seeing Nine Inch Nails performing as fighter pilots – and maybe helping the film do better at the box office – they appear during the height of the final battle towards the end.

How Does It Compare To Daft Punk’s Cameo In Tron: Legacy?
As a huge Nine Inch Nails fan, I was really excited to see Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross make a cameo in the new *Tron: Ares* movie! It was awesome, but honestly, it doesn’t quite compare to Daft Punk’s appearance in *Tron: Legacy*. They didn’t just have a quick appearance – they were *in* that amazing club fight scene, and it was one of the coolest moments in the whole film. Daft Punk sadly broke up a few years ago, but seeing them in *Legacy* was iconic, and I think it’s still the gold standard for band cameos in the *Tron* universe.
Despite mixed reviews for *Tron: Ares* (we rated it 2.5 out of 5), the movie’s energetic score by Nine Inch Nails is definitely worth a listen. You might even enjoy it without wanting to search for their brief appearance!
