Leighton Meester & Adam Brody Reveal If Their Kids Want to Be Actors

Nobody wants to be pushed into the family business.

That’s why Leighton Meester and Adam Brody aren’t planning to have their children, 10-year-old Arlo and her 5-year-old brother, act with them in movies or TV shows anytime in the near future.

Leighton suggested the people they were discussing were pursuing their own unique path, telling TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi at the season two premiere of *Nobody Wants This* in Los Angeles on October 16th that she sensed they had a distinct focus. Adam chimed in during the interview, adding that he detected a hint of performance or showmanship in their behavior.

“But they’re not beating down the door,” The OC alum continued. “They’re not thirsty.” 

Oh my gosh, you guys, Adam and Leighton – they’re just *goals*, seriously! They’ve been married since 2014, can you believe it? And it’s the cutest thing ever, their kids are totally paying attention to what their parents do, like they’re learning from them already! It’s so sweet seeing them engage with age-appropriate stuff, just like a normal, adorable family. I’m obsessed!

Adam mentioned his daughter enjoys the movie *Monte Carlo*, and Leighton Meester added that it’s one of her films suitable for kids.

Their children have also seen their father in *Shazam*, but the actors aren’t encouraging them to watch their shows geared towards older teens.

“I wouldn’t stop them from seeing those shows,” Adam said. “But I’m not gonna push them.”

Leighton and Adam don’t have to worry about their own kids while filming, and they enjoy acting alongside each other—like when Leighton made a guest appearance on the second season of the Netflix comedy series.

Adam explained that being on set together is actually special time for them, almost like a date night. They appreciate not being disturbed and, surprisingly, they find they spend more quality time together when they’re working on a project than when they aren’t.

For Leighton, she’ll take the break from being mom.

Sometimes, work can actually be simpler than being a parent,” she explained. “You get to sit and enjoy your coffee, and have conversations with other adults.”

Having Leighton and Adam involved wasn’t just beneficial for them; executive producers Erin and Sara Foster also greatly benefited from the arrangement.

Adam joked that when they guest star on each other’s shows, it’s a bargain for the networks. Leighton chimed in, calling it a “two-for-one” deal.

In their spare time, this couple enjoys giving back to their community.

Having previously worked together on the 2011 film *The Oranges*, the actors teamed up again in 2019 for an episode of Tami Sagher’s show, *Single Parents*. Brody played the ex-boyfriend of Sagher’s character in his guest appearance.

Although the couple didn’t publicly share that they were expecting another child, Brody confirmed in September 2020 that Meester had given birth to their second baby.
