Following the cancellation of *Wonder Woman 3* due to the shift from the DCEU to the DCU, exciting news emerged in June about the character’s future. A new *Wonder Woman* movie is in development, though the lead actress hasn’t been chosen yet. Actress Ana de Armas has previously expressed interest in the role, and AI-generated images of her as Wonder Woman are incredibly impressive.
We’ve seen astonishing fan art before of what actresses would potentially look like as Wonder Woman. White Lotus’ Alexandra Daddario’s big blue eyes shine through in her DC fan art, and Scream’s Melissa Barrera’s fan art had her looking fierce and strong in her armored costume. Well, @eddiewhittonjr on Instagram us a scarily realistic AI image of what Ana de Armas would look like as the famed heroine, and it’s like she was born for the DC reboot:

If I hadn’t known it was created by artificial intelligence, I would have thought it was actually the Cuban-Spanish American actress wearing Wonder Woman’s outfit. It’s incredible how realistic AI can be these days.
Ana de Armas recently addressed the possibility of playing Wonder Woman. She acknowledged the role was open after the third movie was cancelled, but stated she doesn’t see herself taking over from Gal Gadot. However, with plans for a reboot of *Wonder Woman*, it’s unlikely Gal Gadot will return to the role.
Gal Gadot was fantastic as Wonder Woman, but Ana de Armas has the potential to be the next great actress in the role. Her work in films like *No Time to Die* and *Ballerina* proves she can handle the action and physicality of a superhero. Plus, her strong performances in movies like *Blonde* and *Knives Out* show she can capture Wonder Woman’s strength and empathy. Hopefully, DC Studios’ James Gunn will see the fan excitement and consider her for the part.
James Gunn recently discussed the future of Wonder Woman, stating he’ll choose the best actress for the role, regardless of whether she’s known for movies or television. The Superman director also emphasized that while a new Wonder Woman film is a high priority for the DC Universe, he doesn’t want to rush the process. He wants to be truly happy with the script before moving forward. Given the mixed reviews of the sequel, *Wonder Woman 1984*, it’s understandable he wants to get the revamp right and do justice to the character.
While Ana de Armas doesn’t envision herself as Wonder Woman, artificial intelligence thinks she’d be a perfect fit! Even if the Golden Globe-nominated actress never actually plays the iconic hero, fans are using AI to imagine what she’d look like with the Lasso of Truth, and it’s fun to see.
If you’re eager to revisit Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, both *Wonder Woman* and *Wonder Woman 1984* are currently streaming on HBO Max. Plus, you can stay tuned for updates on *Paradise Lost*, a new Wonder Woman series, though it doesn’t have a confirmed release date just yet.
