Prince Andrew Gives Up Royal Titles Amid Jeffrey Epstein Allegations

Prince Andrew will no longer be a duke.

As a lifestyle commentator, I’ve been following this closely. Prince Andrew has made the decision to step back from his royal duties and will no longer use his titles, like Duke of York. This comes after ongoing and intense public attention regarding his connection to Jeffrey Epstein. It’s a significant move, clearly aimed at distancing himself from the controversy and allowing the royal family to move forward.

Prince Andrew announced on October 17th, in a statement from Buckingham Palace, that after talking with The King and his family, he believes the ongoing accusations against him are taking attention away from the important work of the monarch and the Royal Family.

The 65-year-old stated he’s prioritizing his family and country, which is why he’s stepping back from public life – a decision he originally made five years ago and continues to support.

With the King’s approval, I’m taking a further step back,” explained Andrew, who became the Duke of York when he married Sarah Ferguson in 1986. “I will no longer use my Duke of York title or any of the honors I’ve received.”

Although he’s stepping down from using the title Duke of York after 38 years, he will continue to be known as “Prince” because he is the son of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

I was really relieved to hear him speak out about everything that’s been said. He made it very clear, just like he has before, that he completely rejects all the accusations against him. It’s good to know he’s standing his ground.

In 2021, Virginia Giuffre, who tragically died by suicide in April at age 41, accused Jeffrey Epstein of trafficking her and alleged that, at age 17, she was sexually abused by a British royal.

Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019 while facing sex trafficking charges. In 2021, Virginia Giuffre then sued Prince Andrew in federal court.

The prince reached a settlement in the case the next year, but he still maintains he and the other party never had a sexual relationship.

Andrew stated in a BBC Newsnight interview that he had absolutely no memory of ever meeting the woman, saying, “none whatsoever.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the story of Prince Andrew closely. This marks the second time his titles have been adjusted. Back in 2022, Queen Elizabeth – just months before she passed away – removed his military roles and charitable positions due to the serious allegations against him. It’s a significant shift, and we’re seeing further changes now.

In January, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Andrew had given up his military roles and royal patronages, with the Queen’s consent. He will continue to refrain from official duties and is pursuing legal matters as a private individual, according to the BBC.

Prince Andrew isn’t the only member of royalty in the news lately. Stay tuned for more updates on royals from around the globe…

Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles III, has announced he will no longer use the title Duke of York. This decision comes because of ongoing public concern about his relationship with the late Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of sex offenses.

After talking with The King and my family, I’ve realized the ongoing accusations against me are taking attention away from the important work of His Majesty and the Royal Family,” Andrew said in a statement. “As I’ve always done, I’m prioritizing my family and country. Therefore, I stand by my decision to step back from public life, which I made five years ago.”

Andrew stated that, with the King’s approval, he was taking things a step further. He would give up his royal title and any honors he’d received. As he’s said before, he strongly denies the allegations made against him.

I was so delighted to see the King and Prince of Wales at the Countdown to COP30 event last October! It was wonderful to witness their support for climate action at London’s beautiful Natural History Museum. It really highlighted the importance of the upcoming COP30 negotiations.

The couple posed for photos outside the museum, then went inside to talk with government officials and activists focused on fighting climate change. This event took place ahead of the COP30 World Leaders Summit in Belém, Brazil, in November, which Prince William will attend in place of his father.

In September 2025, Sarah, Duchess of York, stepped down as a patron of Julia’s House after an old email from 2011 surfaced. The email revealed she referred to Jeffrey Epstein as a friend.

After reports surfaced this weekend about the Duchess of York’s communication with Jeffrey Epstein, Julia’s House has decided it’s no longer appropriate for her to continue her role as a patron of the charity. The charity has informed the Duchess of this decision and expressed gratitude for her previous contributions, according to The Guardian.

A representative for Ferguson stated the email was sent following a threat made by Epstein.

After a nearly two-year gap, Prince Harry was spotted arriving at Clarence House—where King Charles lives in London—likely to visit his father before attending another event in the city.

Harry arrived at the house around 5:20 p.m. on September 10th, but Charles had come back just a few hours earlier.

Princess Anne’s son and his girlfriend, Harriet Sperling, announced their engagement on August 1st. They had been dating for over a year. His father is Mark Phillips.

The couple’s spokesperson told Hello! magazine that both families were told together and were very happy about the engagement.

I was so thrilled to hear that just before turning 78, Her Majesty was made Vice Admiral of the United Kingdom by the Royal Navy! It’s a wonderful honor and a testament to her long-standing support of the armed forces.

Camilla is the first woman to receive this honorary title. It’s awarded only by the monarch—in this case, her husband, King Charles III—based on a recommendation from the First Sea Lord, currently Sir Gwyn Jenkins.

Just hours before she was scheduled to attend, Princess Catherine cancelled her appearance at Royal Ascot, according to Kensington Palace.

The palace said Kate was sad she couldn’t attend the event, but she’s still working out how to manage her public appearances as she recovers from cancer.

As a long-time follower of Prince Harry, I was saddened to learn his legal battle for extra security finally concluded on May 2nd with the courts dismissing his case. It’s been over a year since the initial request for increased protection through the Royal and VIP Executive Committee was denied, and it’s disappointing to see it end this way.

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stopped being full-time working royals in 2021 and moved to the U.S., their security coverage was reduced. However, Harry continued to request security protection during his visits to the U.K. in the following years.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the news, and it’s clear Prince Harry is really hurting after the recent legal decision. He shared with the BBC that he’s devastated by the outcome, and honestly, it’s led him to question the future for his family. He’s said he doesn’t foresee a situation where he’d feel comfortable bringing Meghan and their children back to the UK right now, and you can really feel the weight of that decision in his words.

In an interview with the BBC on May 2nd, Prince Harry said his father, King Charles III, isn’t currently speaking to him due to disagreements about security. However, he expressed hope that they can repair their relationship.

Prince Harry expressed his desire to rebuild his relationship with his father and brother, but says it depends on them. He shares two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with his wife, Meghan.

He doesn’t foresee returning to the U.K. with his family anytime soon. He expressed sadness about not being able to share his home country with his children.

Harry explained that his father has significant influence and could potentially solve the situation. He doesn’t necessarily need to get directly involved, but simply allow the professionals to handle things and continue their work.

After years of fighting, he’s now seeking peace and a way to make amends. He explained, “Life is short, and my father doesn’t have much time left.”

More than a year after revealing his cancer diagnosis, King Charles wrote on April 29th that going through treatment has shown him the incredible kindness and strength of people.

In a booklet offering support to cancer patients and their families, Charles wrote that receiving a diagnosis is understandably scary. However, speaking from personal experience, he also believes it can reveal the incredible kindness and strength people are capable of.

He expressed gratitude to the healthcare workers who cared for him, and shared that the experience deepened his respect for the incredible work done by the organizations and people present, many of whom he’s known and supported for years.

Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – were absent from the royal family’s traditional Easter service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on April 20th.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by how families spend their downtime, even royal ones! While King Charles and Queen Camilla were enjoying celebrations with the family, it sounds like Prince William and Kate chose a more low-key weekend. Reports say they opted to retreat to their country home in Norfolk with their children – a lovely way to recharge, don’t you think?

It was really noticeable missing them again this Easter – it was the second one they’ve had to miss. It felt especially poignant happening just a week after Kate shared the news about her cancer diagnosis. As a longtime supporter, it’s just heartbreaking.

On April 15th, Jason Knauf was named the new Chief Executive Officer of Prince William’s environmental initiative, The Earthshot Prize. In a statement on the organization’s website, Knauf expressed his excitement about collaborating with the team and community to promote hopeful solutions for the planet.

He was promoted almost seven years after he reported concerns about Meghan Markle’s behavior, claiming she bullied two assistants and tried to discredit another staff member. Representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex denied these claims, telling *The Times* that the story was a deliberate attempt to damage their reputation with false information.

Buckingham Palace looked into the claims, but the investigation concluded in 2022 with no public report of its findings.

William and Kate’s eldest son George attended a soccer match in Paris alongside his dad April 7.

It was such a special sight seeing a father and son enjoying the Champions League match between PSG and Aston Villa at Parc des Princes! They were beaming – you could really feel their excitement together. It made the whole game even better, honestly.

Graham Craker, a former bodyguard to Prince Harry and Prince William, passed away in April at the age of 77.

Craker was with Princes William and Harry when they found out their mother, Princess Diana, had passed away, and he was present at her funeral.

In 2017, Craker told The New York Post that he saw Prince William during the procession. He explained that he was standing near the back of the hearse when Prince William looked up and nodded at him. Craker returned the gesture, and Prince William seemed reassured that someone he knew was with his mother during her final journey.

Hugh Grosvenor, the godson of King Charles III, and his wife, Olivia Grosvenor, shared the happy news on March 12th that they are expecting their first child.

A spokesperson announced to The Telegraph that the duchess is pregnant and expecting a baby this summer. The couple expressed their joy and excitement about starting a family.

Prince Frederik, the son of Prince Robert and Princess Julie, passed away on March 1st at the age of 22 after a struggle with a rare genetic condition called PolG mitochondrial disease.

For my family and so many friends, Frederik has always been our hero, and now, through his incredible PolG Foundation, he’s become that for people all over the world. What I admire most about him – his true superpower – is his ability to inspire others simply by living his life as an example. He truly leads by doing, and that’s what makes him so special to all of us.

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, reached a legal settlement with News Group Newspapers – the company behind both *The Sun* and the now-closed *News of the World* – on January 22nd. He had sued them in 2019, claiming their journalists and investigators illegally obtained information about the royal family.

According to NBC News, the settlement involved the company paying a significant amount in damages and offering a complete and sincere apology to Prince Harry. They also publicly admitted to the widespread and harmful coverage that invaded both his and Princess Diana’s privacy.

On January 14th, The Princess of Wales shared the wonderful news that her cancer treatment has been successful and she is now in remission.

She shared on X (formerly Twitter) on January 14th that she’s grateful to be in remission and is continuing to focus on getting better. She noted that, like anyone facing a cancer diagnosis, it’s taking time to adjust to life afterward.

She added that she was excited about the year ahead and optimistic about what it would bring.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is grieving the loss of her rescue beagle, a dog she adopted in 2015, before she met Prince Harry.

On January 7th, she shared a vulnerable post on Instagram, describing feeling overwhelmed with sadness. She wrote about crying so much that she’d often stand in the shower, hoping the water could wash away the pain – even though she knew it wouldn’t. She acknowledged that it was okay to feel those emotions, even if they were difficult.

Meghan lovingly remembered her dog, Guy, saying, ‘Thank you for always loving me, my sweet boy. You brought so much joy to my life.’

Edward Pettifer, the stepson of Prince William and Prince Harry’s former nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke (also known as Alexandra Pettifer), was killed in a terrorist attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day.

Prince William and Princess Catherine were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Ed Pettifer. In a message shared on Princess Catherine’s Instagram on January 4th, Prince William stated their thoughts are with the Pettifer family and everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.

Meghan Markle, known for her role on the TV show *Suits*, launched her own Instagram account on January 1st. She had previously closed her personal social media accounts right before marrying Prince Harry in 2018.

The next day, she revealed a new Netflix series called *With Love, Meghan*. A press release described it as a fresh take on lifestyle shows, combining helpful tips and honest chats with both familiar and new friends.

In June 2025, Prince William and Kate Middleton made a rare public appearance with their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, at Wimbledon.
