Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner-Smith have put aside their legal battle.
Just five months after finalizing their divorce, actors Joey Lawrence and Charlotte Ross have decided to skip the court trial regarding custody of their 5-year-old daughter, Juno, and will work things out privately.
Jodie, age 39, has asked the court to cancel the trial dates of October 15th, 17th, and 22nd, according to a filing made by her lawyers on October 14th and reported by TopMob News. The filing stated that Jodie and Joshua, 47, are currently working on a new custody agreement for their daughter, Juno, and hope to resolve things without a trial.
Okay, so I’ve been following this *so* closely, and the latest update is that they’re still working out the details of the custody agreement. Basically, they’re going back to the same private judge who’s been helping them all along to try and break through any disagreements and finally get everything finalized. I’m just on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what happens!
TopMob News has reached out to reps for both Jodie and Joshua, but has not heard back.
Although Joshua and Jodie had previously agreed in their divorce settlement to continue sharing joint legal and physical custody of their child with equal parenting time, a dispute arose. On May 30th, Joshua filed an emergency motion requesting a change to the custody arrangement, claiming Jodie had enrolled their child in a new school without his consent and that the school was too far from his home—more than the agreed-upon 45-minute commute.
The parent is asking the court to allow their child to continue attending their current school for the 2025-2026 school year, and to require both parents to agree before any future school changes are made.
The actor, known for *Doctor Odyssey*, also expressed worry that the *Queen & Slim* actress was trying to arrange for their daughter, Juno, to travel with her instead of going to regular school. He mentioned Jodie often works in London and had texted Joshua suggesting Juno could learn through tutors and online classes.
His request included letters from Joshua and Jodie, both explaining why the time they spent with Juno was justified.
In a letter dated May 23rd, Jodie, 38, expressed her relief that she and Joshua were on the same page about prioritizing Juno’s well-being. She wrote that they both wanted to give Juno a stable, consistent upbringing with plenty of quality time with each of them. Jodie added that she understood and valued Joshua’s perspective that this time should be focused on what’s best for Juno, not on their own feelings.
Okay, so I’ve been following everything with Juno and her husband, and it’s just… a lot. She filed for divorce last October, but now I’m seeing she wants to take Juno to Europe for *five whole weeks* this summer! Apparently, her husband responded, and he’s really worried about being away from Juno for almost a month – four weeks, to be exact. I just feel so bad for everyone involved, honestly. I’m glued to the updates!
He believes we should prioritize consistent, positive interactions with our child as we discuss and plan visitation. He feels it’s important for our child to have equal time with both of us.
He asked Jodie to discuss travel plans for Juno with him first, before mentioning them to their daughter, to avoid upsetting or confusing her.
Although Jodie and Joshua have faced challenges, they both want what’s best for their daughter, as the former *Mighty Ducks* star explained.
I was so touched hearing him talk on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s podcast, *Dinner’s on Me*. He explained that he and his ex-wife see it as their shared responsibility to really help their children grow, giving them everything they need to thrive and succeed in life. It felt so genuine and heartwarming to hear him put it that way.
He added that the thought of doing anything to cause a rift between himself and his daughter would be incredibly upsetting. He couldn’t even imagine it, because the pain would be too much to bear.
For a look back at Jodie and Joshua’s time together, keep reading.
