Model Found in Refrigerator Allegedly Killed After Weeklong Romance

New details are being uncovered surrounding Maleesa Mooney‘s murder.

More than a year after Magnus Humphrey was arrested and accused in her death, prosecutors revealed information about his alleged relationship with the model. She was found tied up and with a gag in a refrigerator during a welfare check in Los Angeles in 2023.

According to the *Los Angeles Times*, prosecutors stated in court on October 16th that Humphrey, 43, and Mooney, 31, had a brief romantic relationship lasting about five days before her death. They reportedly met in September 2023 through Humphrey’s brother, from whom he is estranged.

From what I understand, things moved *very* quickly with Humphrey and my friend. Apparently, Keirsten Dossett, a friend of ours, described him as becoming completely fixated on her – they were practically inseparable, barely spending a moment apart during the entire week they were together. It was definitely an intense connection!

Dossett also claimed that Humphrey brought Mooney to a family barbecue and called her “my girl” and “my woman,” according to the *Los Angeles Times*.

Although Humphrey’s attorney, Michael Lambrose, confirmed he was dating Mooney when she died, he stated his client wasn’t involved in her murder.

During the hearing, the lawyer argued that the evidence presented by the prosecution – such as DNA and video showing Humphrey at the scene and with the victim – wasn’t strong enough to prove their case.

Moreover, Lambrose argued that details about their relationship don’t prove any violent intent.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the prosecutor stated in court that the evidence suggests the defendant “cared very deeply” for the other person and that they had discussed marriage.

Court records show Humphrey was accused of felony murder and torture related to the 2023 death of Mooney. After a hearing on October 16th, a judge determined there was sufficient evidence to move forward with a trial, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

If he’s found guilty, he could potentially receive the death penalty, but prosecutors haven’t made a decision about whether they will ask for it.

TopMob News contacted Humphrey’s lawyer and the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s office for a statement, but they haven’t responded yet.
