The upcoming movie, *Avengers: Doomsday*, is going to be huge, with a large cast and a complex story involving multiple universes. Marvel has already confirmed appearances by many familiar characters, as well as those from outside the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, like the X-Men, and there are hints of even more surprises to come. Rumors have been circulating about Ghost Rider appearing in the film, and now the actor who plays him has spoken about his potential role in the MCU.
Gabriel Luna brilliantly portrayed Ghost Rider (as Robbie Reyes) in season four of *Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.* While the character hasn’t appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since, Luna recently shared with ComicBook Movie that he’s still very fond of the role and would be happy to reprise it if the opportunity arises.
Luna said she’d be willing to revisit the role, explaining her deep affection for the character and the show’s world. She’s always open to the possibility. She also shared how much it means to her when fans express their love for season 4, particularly considering the show has a total of seven seasons.
Luna shared how much it means to her that fans still cherish the show. She was especially touched to receive a video from Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet, and Ming-Na Wen, who were at New York Comic Con. They spoke fondly of her and named the fourth season as their favorite, which she found particularly meaningful given the strong bond they all shared during the show’s seven seasons. She described their appreciation of that season as truly special.
Luna expressed his desire to reprise the role, stating he’s eager to return as Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider and has let Marvel know he’s available.
Ghost Rider Should Make An Appearance in Avengers: Doomsday
The upcoming movie, *Avengers: Doomsday*, will feature several X-Men characters from the old 20th Century Fox films. Although most likely won’t survive, a few might make it into the new shared universe expected after *Secret Wars*. If the X-Men are being included, it would also make sense to include other characters from outside the main Avengers universe, like Ghost Rider.
It’s unclear if Robbie Reyes (Luna’s Ghost Rider) or Nicholas Cage’s Johnny Blaze will appear, or if both will be included, but fans are hoping to see some representation of Marvel’s darker, supernatural side in the story, meaning at least one of these characters will likely make an appearance.
This approach would also be a great way to introduce the Midnight Sons and Blade into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially if Marvel can get the Blade movie on track. With the positive reception to Werewolf by Night, and Ghost Rider fitting nicely into the more mysterious side of the universe, it’s now a matter of waiting to see what Marvel decides to do next.
The Astronaut is now in theaters. Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18th, 2026.
