Capcom has had great success recently with remakes of older *Resident Evil* games, leading fans to request similar updates for *Resident Evil 0* and *Resident Evil – Code: Veronica*. According to a new report from Mp1st, a remake of *Resident Evil 0* is currently being developed and has been in progress for a couple of years.
The remake of *Resident Evil 0* is currently in development, internally known as “Chamber.” This codename likely honors Rebecca Chambers, one of the game’s main characters. Voice recording and motion capture for the remake began in 2024 and are already progressing.
Jon McLaren, an actor with experience on popular games like Far Cry 5 and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (where he played Star-Lord), is working on the remake of *Resident Evil 0*. He’s listed the project as “Project Chamber” on his resume, and while it hasn’t been officially confirmed, many believe he’s voicing Billy Coen, one of the game’s two main characters.
The upcoming remake of *Resident Evil 0* will probably follow the same main story as the original game, but Capcom also plans to add to it. For instance, the character of the train conductor will have a significantly bigger part to play than they did in the first version of the game.
The report continues to suggest that the *Resident Evil 0* remake is still a ways off. A previous report from last month indicated that Capcom plans to release it after the rumored *Resident Evil – Code: Veronica* remake, which is currently expected in the first quarter of 2027. The *Resident Evil 0* remake is now targeting a 2028 release.
As the release of *Resident Evil – Code: Veronica* approaches, recent rumors have focused on the game’s details. For example, a report from August suggested that Albert Wesker, a major villain throughout the *Resident Evil* series, will be more involved in the remake’s story. This includes making his combat unit a key part of the plot and giving the character himself a more significant role.
Although reports of remakes are currently unconfirmed, Capcom has officially announced that the next installment, *Resident Evil Requiem*, will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026. In the months leading up to the release, Capcom has shared details about the game, notably that its boss battles will resemble those from the original *Resident Evil* and its sequel.
The game will definitely have boss battles,” said director Koshi Nakanishi. “But instead of focusing on spectacular, action-packed fights like in many shooting games, we’re taking a more strategic approach, similar to the original *Resident Evil* and *Resident Evil 2*. Players will explore limited areas, solve puzzles, and rely on their intelligence to progress.”
