A new rumor is circulating about Daisy Ridley’s next Star Wars film. The movie will continue the story of Rey Skywalker after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, but it’s faced some changes in its development. Although official information is scarce, recent reports suggest the film’s direction is evolving behind the scenes.
Daisy Ridley’s Rey movie said to be on hold
According to industry source MyTimeToShineHello, Lucasfilm has temporarily paused production on the upcoming Star Wars film starring Daisy Ridley. The source reported on X (formerly Twitter) that the project is on hold while Lucasfilm reviews and approves a revised script.
After months of rumors, details are emerging about the next Star Wars movie, which will continue Rey Skywalker’s adventures following The Rise of Skywalker. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is set to direct, and George Nolfi is currently working on the script. According to a source, Lucasfilm needs to give its approval on Nolfi’s latest draft before filming can begin.
Reports indicate the upcoming Star Wars movie starring Rey is facing delays, but hasn’t been cancelled. Daniel Richtman, a film reporter, previously stated Lucasfilm is currently focusing on other Star Wars projects like ‘Starfighter’ with Shawn Levy and ‘Dawn of the Jedi’ with James Mangold. This aligns with recent information from MyTimeToShineHello, and sources say the Rey movie is ‘temporarily on hold’ as Lucasfilm plans its future movie releases (MovieWeb).
Daisy Ridley spoke about the movie’s delay back in February 2025, explaining that the extra time would help the team create the best possible story. She believes fans will appreciate the wait and that it will be worth it (according to The Hollywood Reporter).
Although Lucasfilm hasn’t made an official announcement, a recent post from MyTimeToShineHello is the first confirmation that filming has been temporarily stopped while the script is reviewed and approved.
