Sony just released a significant new update for the PlayStation 5. It improves system stability and includes other enhancements, though the changes aren’t revolutionary.
A new update, version 25.07-12.20.00, is now available for download and is 1.319GB in size.
So, they’ve added a couple of really handy things! Now I can actually check my console’s serial number right from the PlayStation itself, which is awesome. Plus, they’ve made the DualSense Edge controller even more reliable and fixed some stuff with the messaging system. It’s all good news for me and my gaming setup!
Here are the patch notes, courtesy of Sony:
- You can now use your console to check the serial number of your console, and of DualSense wireless controllers that are currently connected by USB or Bluetooth®.
- For your console, select Settings > System > System Software > Console Information, and then check Serial Number.
- For a DualSense wireless controller, select Settings > Accessories > General > Advanced Settings > View Serial Number.
- We’ve updated the device software of the DualSense Edge wireless controller to improve stability.
- We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.
- We’ve improved system software performance and stability.
This update isn’t groundbreaking, but it’s a more significant improvement than just a standard bug fix.
