BioWare revealed a new Mass Effect game in 2020, but actual work on it didn’t start until 2024, after they finished Dragon Age: The Veilguard. So, despite the early announcement, the game isn’t as far along in development as some might think. It’s moved past the planning stages, but still has a long way to go. Fans are hoping this explains why Jennifer Hale, a key voice actor in the series, hasn’t been contacted yet.
Commander Shepard’s Role in the New Mass Effect Game
In a recent interview, Jennifer Hale revealed that BioWare hasn’t reached out to her to reprise her role as the female Commander Shepard in the upcoming Mass Effect game. Since she voiced the character previously, this suggests Shepard may not appear in the new game, unless BioWare has decided to use a different voice actor. While it’s possible they’ve gone in a new direction with the voice acting, it doesn’t seem very likely.
It’s possible we haven’t heard from Hale yet because BioWare hasn’t begun recording voiceovers.
