Even before the fourth season of The Witcher comes out, people are already discussing how Liam Hemsworth will play Geralt of Rivia, especially since he’s replacing Henry Cavill in the role.
When the latest trailer dropped, fans immediately analyzed every scene, but one line really stood out – Chris Hemsworth’s Geralt shouting, “Let’s fing move!” as he motivates his group.
Some viewers felt the line didn’t fit the Witcher’s personality, as he’s usually a man of few words and keeps his emotions in check.
Despite the criticism the line received, showrunner Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich has explained the reasoning behind it, sharing details about what happens in the scene.
It’s amazing to think that before the first season even aired, if someone had said ‘Toss a Coin to Your Witcher’ would become so popular, I wouldn’t have believed it. Looking back, though, the line fits perfectly within the battle scene, and it’s just a really cool line to begin with.

Sometimes viewers might think, ‘That doesn’t sound like the Geralt I know.’ But it is him – it’s how our Geralt would react in that situation, and it feels right for the scene. I’m excited for audiences to see those moments from the trailer play out fully within the context of the show.
Let’s talk about Geralt’s arc. The showrunner, Schmidt-Hissrich, hinted at a key motivation for him – he’s actively choosing to stay out of human conflicts. It really gets to the core of what Witchers are in this world: monster hunters, not political players. He’s deliberately drawing a line, deciding his role is fighting beasts, not getting tangled up in the messy affairs of people.
Watching Geralt over the seasons has been amazing. He’s really changed! Meeting Yennefer clearly had a huge impact, and seeing him fall in love was beautiful. Then Ciri came into his life – she wasn’t planned, but she quickly became the daughter he always needed. It’s been fascinating to watch him realize, almost against his will, how connected he is to humanity. He started out wanting to be separate, but he’s definitely become a part of their world.

By the start of season four, he’s responsible for a new family and is initially reluctant to let them join his adventures. But in this particular scene, he’s fiercely protecting someone he cares about deeply, and his attitude feels very much like a protective father or a close friend.
This person understands they have the power to save a life, and that’s incredibly brave. It’s like watching Geralt finally get to be the noble hero he always dreamed of.
This season, Geralt (played by Hemsworth), Ciri (Freya Allan), and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) are all facing dangerous challenges on separate paths across a land torn apart by war.
Whether they’ll reunite remains to be seen, especially with so much danger surrounding them.
In 2022, Henry Cavill announced he was leaving The Witcher and wished Chris Hemsworth, who would be taking over the role, all the best.
