The world of The Batman is full of compelling characters who could star in their own shows or movies. Matt Reeves’ The Batman (2022) revitalized the story of Bruce Wayne/Batman (Robert Pattinson) with a dark and realistic take on Gotham City. The film was a hit with both audiences and critics, thanks to its strong story and memorable supporting characters like Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), and Oz Cobb/Penguin (Colin Farrell). The first spinoff series, The Penguin (2024), also proved popular, focusing on the cutthroat criminal underworld and a fierce battle for control of Gotham. While no other spinoffs have been officially announced before The Batman Part II (2027), Reeves has hinted that more projects set in this universe are planned for the future.
Now that The Penguin is getting his own series, here are five other characters from The Batman who would be perfect for a spinoff show.
5) Carmine Falcone

Though Carmine Falcone dies in The Batman, the character could reappear in future installments. We already see a younger Falcone, played by Mark Strong, in flashbacks in The Penguin. A prequel series exploring Falcone’s rise to power in Gotham’s criminal world would be a fascinating addition to the universe. Fans would be especially interested in seeing his connections to Thomas Wayne and his complicated relationship with Catwoman. With plenty of compelling stories to tell, a Carmine Falcone spinoff could be as popular as The Penguin.
4) Jim Gordon

As a huge fan of The Batman, I always felt like Lt. Jim Gordon, played brilliantly by Jeffrey Wright, deserved more screen time. He’s such a vital ally to Batman in tracking down The Riddler, and I think a series focusing on him and the Gotham City police department would be fantastic. Gotham is such a richly detailed, crime-ridden city – really, a character in itself – and seeing things from Gordon’s perspective would add a whole new layer to that universe. Honestly, with Wright at the helm, a Gordon-centric spinoff just makes so much sense for DC to explore!
3) The Riddler

Even though the Riddler is imprisoned at the end of The Batman, his story doesn’t have to be over. He could escape and return to terrorize Gotham, which would make for a compelling spinoff. Alternatively, a prequel exploring his origins and early crimes would be a fantastic addition to the franchise, especially considering his unsettling personality and complex schemes make him a formidable opponent for Batman. It’s rare for villains to be featured in multiple projects, so developing the Riddler further could be a smart move for The Batman universe and create a truly memorable character.
2) Sofia Falcone

The ending of The Penguin cleverly sets up what happens next with Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti). After being arrested and sent back to Arkham Asylum following her takeover of the Falcone crime family, Sofia receives a letter from her half-sister, Selina. This scene hints that Sofia might escape Arkham and join forces with Catwoman in a future story, potentially one that surpasses The Penguin in scope and excitement.
After being repeatedly betrayed by people she trusted, like Carmine and Oz, Sofia is now set on a path of revenge within the world of The Batman. She might team up with Catwoman to reclaim her power in Gotham, or she could try to take back the city herself. Actress Milioti did such a great job portraying the complex and powerful crime boss that Sofia deserves her own series, and the character’s compelling story should be a major part of what happens next in the franchise.
1) Catwoman

A Catwoman spin-off should be DC’s next project, whether it includes a team-up with Sofia or tells a completely new story. Catwoman is a compelling character because she follows her own moral code, even when working with Batman, which allows her to be either a hero or a villain. While she left Gotham at the end of The Batman, and might not be in the sequel, it’s likely Selina Kyle will return to the DC universe eventually.
Catwoman is a complex character—she doesn’t always do what’s right, but she has a strong moral code—and she’s a vital part of Batman’s world. Whether she stays in Gotham or pursues new ventures, she deserves her own standalone film. Zoë Kravitz’s portrayal of Selina Kyle is excellent, and after over twenty years since Halle Berry’s Catwoman movie, it’s time to give this iconic character the spotlight she’s earned.
