Okay, so I just read this thing online and it’s totally bogus. Apparently, some fake Facebook post was going around saying they were getting rid of Jane Danson – you know, Leanne from Coronation Street? She’s apparently really upset about it and has called it out as completely untrue. Honestly, people will believe anything they read these days! It’s good she’s setting the record straight, though.
Danson first appeared in the show in 1997, playing Leanne, the oldest daughter of the troublesome Battersby family. She played the role until 2000, when her character left to escape the abuse she was suffering from the villainous drug dealer, Jez Quigley (played by Lee Boardman).
After taking four years off, Jane made appearances in the ITV medical drama Always and Everyone and the long-running police procedural The Bill.
She’s been a regular on the show for more than twenty years, and played a big part in last night’s episode when her half-sister, Eva Price, returned and revealed she was taking over as the owner of the Rovers Return pub.
Eva hoped to help Leanne and her step-sister, Toyah Habeeb, make up, and it looks like they’ve finally patched things up. However, knowing this is Coronation Street, it’s unlikely their peace will last!

Jane posted on Instagram today, sharing a screenshot from a Coronation Street fan page claiming she’s been let go from the show. The post said she wrote a moving letter expressing how upset she was.
I was really surprised to read that Jane Danson, who we all know and love as Leanne Battersby on ‘Corrie’, apparently received very short notice – just a month, it seems – before being let go from the show. She apparently responded by writing a really touching letter.
Jane was upset, saying she’d spent years working on the program and only received a simple ‘thank you’ and a ‘good luck’ in return.
After seeing false reports, Danson requested the page to cease fabricating stories and misattributing quotes to the show’s cast.
So, I just found out – apparently I’ve been let go from the show, which is a total shock. I even wrote a letter expressing how bummed I am. Honestly, the whole thing is weird because if they did fire me, wouldn’t someone have actually told me? It feels incredibly unprofessional to find out this way.
For nearly three decades, I’ve listened to people share their opinions – and sometimes make things up – without responding. But I’ve finally reached my limit with reading false or misleading information.

She pleaded, “Please, just stop. It’s really sad, and I wish people would stop spreading that inaccurate ‘99%’ claim you see online. It’s harmful and mean – please think about what you’re saying before you post it.”
Jack P. Shepherd, who plays David Platt on the show, playfully mentioned that he was the subject of online death rumors recently.
“Amen to this, sis,” replied Georgia Taylor.
Jane’s husband, actor Robert Beck, jokingly exclaimed, “Oh no… is this not true?” He had just put their house up for sale on the website Rightmove.
The official Twitter account for Coronation Street, which has often warned fans about fake news and scam accounts, recently posted that they are constantly working to remove fraudulent posts, adding a sad-face emoji.
