Here is an overview of the game, via DANGEN Entertainment:
About
In the dark and spooky deckbuilding roguelike, Deck of Haunts, you play as a haunted house! Your goal is to build up your mansion and attract people, then use haunting cards to scare them senseless—or eliminate them entirely.
This game takes place in 1970s America, and you play as a haunted mansion built in the art deco style of the 1920s. Once a beautiful home, it’s now filled with anger and resentment after years of being left empty. Over time, this negativity has formed a dark, beating heart within the house. This heart gives the mansion life and allows it to attract people, feeding on their fear and even their bodies to become stronger.
In Deck of Haunts, you build a spooky haunted house, setting traps to defend its central Heart room. Then, each night, you use a deck of scary cards to unleash ghosts and monsters, driving visitors mad or eliminating them completely. Clever players combine cards and use special rooms to create frightening strategies. The aim is to collect the energy from these unfortunate guests to expand your mansion and lure in bigger targets—but beware! The Stone Masons are coming, and they’re a serious threat.
Okay, so I just started playing this game called Deck of Haunts, and it’s seriously cool. You actually are the haunted house! It’s all about trapping people, messing with their heads, and basically sucking the life out of them to make your house even spookier and more powerful. It’s a really unique idea and I’m hooked!
During the day, carefully plan and build a complex, deadly mansion that no one can escape. Then, at night, trick people into entering and use a special deck of cards to summon ghosts, change the mansion’s layout, and unleash terrifying creatures. Your goal is to scare your guests into insanity while defending the Heart room, which is the source of your evil power.
When people lose their minds, you can collect their sanity to power up your mansion, making it more notorious and drawing the attention of tougher enemies – like police and priests. Just be warned, the Stone Masons are on their way, and they’re determined to stop you…
