Colin Farrell has seen the script for the next Batman movie, and he really liked the story. As the actor who plays the Penguin, he had nothing but good things to say about it.
What did Colin Farrell say about The Batman 2 script?
Colin Farrell recently discussed the upcoming Batman sequel during an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. He was promoting his new Netflix film, Ballad of a Small Player, when he revealed he’d read the script for The Batman: Part II and spoken with director Matt Reeves, who wrote it with Mattson Tomlin. Farrell said the conversation with Reeves lasted about an hour.
Farrell shared with Horowitz that he had a lot of thoughts on the script and considered it a modern masterpiece. He praised the writing as brilliant and highlighted the compelling character arc Robert Pattinson has in the story, suggesting it will be a great experience for the audience.
Colin Farrell was really excited when he first got the script for The Batman 2, calling himself a huge fan. But he waited two weeks to read it because he wasn’t feeling mentally prepared at the time.
“It’s dense,” Farrell said about the script. “It’s really, really intelligent. It’s so detailed.”
A couple of weeks later, Farrell settled in with a cup of tea and finished reading the screenplay in around two hours.
“It’s really extraordinary,” Farrell explained. “I think he’s going to make an extraordinary film.”
The Batman 2 is the eagerly awaited follow-up to the 2022 film, The Batman. Robert Pattinson will once again play Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman, and Colin Farrell is returning as his character, The Penguin. Farrell recently mentioned that the movie picks up a few weeks after the events shown in the HBO series, The Penguin, which is part of the same Batman universe created by director Matt Reeves.
Filming for The Batman 2 is planned to start in spring 2026, with a release date currently set for October 1, 2027. Matt Reeves is directing the sequel.
