Embark Studios’ ARC Raiders is now available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, marking the culmination of several years of development since it was first announced in 2021. The game has quickly become popular on Steam, with over 165,000 players online at the same time as of this writing. A recent stress test saw nearly 190,000 concurrent players.
The game has received a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with 86% of over 1,500 player reviews being positive. Players especially enjoy the unpredictable nature of the gameplay, which means even a routine trip for supplies in the Rust Belt can quickly turn into a dangerous battle against the ARC.
Honestly, when I’m exploring up on the surface, I’m always wary of other players. You might team up with someone, but they could just as easily stab you in the back, so I’ve learned to grab whatever free gear I can get my hands on and constantly upgrade my weapons. It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there, and being prepared is key!
ARC Raiders begins with four different maps to explore: Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, The Spaceport, and Blue Gate. Each map has its own design and interesting locations, but players will face the same dangerous ARC threats throughout. A fifth map, Stella Montis, is planned for the future, though details about its content and challenges are currently unknown.
