Considering the recent revival of classic consoles, we never expected the SEGA CD to be one of them.
And the retro game releases keep coming, with the 1993 FMV boxing game, Prize Fighter, now available.
So, good news for fans of this game! Screaming Villains is doing the port, which means it’s in good hands. And even better, Limited Run Games is going to release a physical copy – I’m already planning where to display it! We’re looking at a 2026 release, so it’s a bit of a wait, but totally worth it.
If you haven’t seen it before, this game offers traditional boxing gameplay with realistic graphics and responsive controls.
Surprisingly, the video clips were directed by Ron Stein, known for his work on the Rocky films.

The game features four main enemies that you defeat in full-motion video battles, similar to the gameplay of Punch-Out!!
Similar to Slam City, this game is one of the better full-motion video titles from the Sega CD – though that doesn’t make it particularly good overall.
It should prove an interesting novelty to revisit on the PS5, though.
