As a Battlefield 6 player, I’ve noticed the air support – things like airstrikes and artillery – can really turn the tide of battle. But honestly, I don’t think most of us are using it to its full advantage. It’s way more effective than we give it credit for, if you know how to use it right!
I say this from experience – I used to be unfamiliar with them, and while I’m no expert, I’ve learned how to use them effectively. They aren’t simply tools for causing damage.
Try to keep these units alive as long as you can, and focus on using them to gather information rather than directly attacking enemies.
The flaws of wasting your airstrikes and artillery

The main problem with requesting air support is that it’s a one-time use. After you’ve called it in, you’ll need to find more – either by opening crates or completing missions – to get it again.
Considering they also aren’t very good at eliminating opponents, you’re essentially misusing them.
Honestly, it’s really hard to actually *hit* anyone with these strikes. Because the game warns opponents a strike is coming and shows them exactly where it’ll land, they almost always manage to get out of the way. Sure, there are cool moments where you can collapse a big building on top of enemies, but a good team will see it coming and move before it lands. It’s more about the threat than actual damage, most of the time.
Avoid calling in strikes near enemies. It’s likely to draw their attention to you, lowering your chances of surviving. Plus, if the strike is too close, you could end up getting hit yourself.
These attacks aren’t likely to catch anyone off guard. You’ll have the most success using them against an enemy who is trapped and has little hope of getting away.
Hold your airstrikes and artillery and use them to scout

When you request an airstrike, the game will mark important objects on your screen. This includes highlighting enemies, and you can tag them with a live ping while looking through your scope.
This tool benefits both you and your team, and its long range allows you to effectively scout the surrounding area, even when you’re not ready to fight.
Being aware of your surroundings is really important in REDSEC, particularly now. It’s surprisingly easy for someone to sneak up on you because the sound isn’t quite right – DICE, could you please look into the audio so footsteps are more audible?
Since you’re more likely to defeat enemies using your standard weapons than calling in an airstrike, it’s better to keep them alive as a way to gather information.
Late in a game, you might still have an opportunity to make a winning play and secure the victory.
