With Paramount facing significant layoffs and resignations, the show Tulsa King has also been affected. Reports indicate that around 26 people from the 600-person crew have left the production, including Sylvester Stallone’s stunt double.
Sources at Deadline report that numerous staff members from the popular Paramount series were let go just before production was scheduled to start on season four of Tulsa King. The report indicates the company doesn’t intend to hire replacements for those terminated.
Recent layoffs impacted staff in multiple departments, including camera, stunts, transportation, hair, makeup, and casting. These cuts were particularly surprising because employees had been assured their positions were secure after the show Tulsa King was renewed for two additional seasons.
Freddie Poole, who has worked as Sylvester Stallone’s stunt double and coordinated his stunts for over ten years, was unexpectedly let go from the Paramount+ show Tulsa King just weeks before filming began. The Emmy-nominated professional was among those whose positions were eliminated.
Poole was let go from his job, reportedly for “creative reasons.” While Paramount offered him a different position as a stand-in, the stunt coordinator overseeing the show declined the offer and left the studio. Poole also voiced his frustration with the industry, stating, “In my 30 years of working in television, and having been with shows for many seasons, I’ve never seen so much changeover.”
News about the continuing development of Tulsa King follows Taylor Sheridan’s recent announcement that he’s leaving Paramount when his contract ends. He’s moving to NBCUniversal, where he’s signed a lucrative multi-year deal for both television and film projects.
