The upcoming Spider-Man sequel, a continuation of the ‘Brand New Day’ storyline, is adding to its impressive cast. Recent reports suggest an actor from Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies might return for the new film, as more casting announcements are made.
Tony Revolori’s Flash Thompson said to return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Flash Thompson, played by Tony Revolori, is expected to return in the upcoming Spider-Man film, Brand New Day. Revolori previously portrayed Peter Parker’s often-sarcastic classmate in the first three Spider-Man movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home (according to Daniel Richtman).
Throughout the Spider-Man trilogy, Flash Thompson was the class clown and a bully to Peter Parker, constantly teasing him while secretly admiring Spider-Man – not realizing they were the same person. At the end of ‘No Way Home,’ Flash was accepted into MIT, joining Ned and MJ. If this rumor is true, a potential new storyline could bring these characters back in surprising ways.
Although Revolori’s part in the movie is still a secret, many fans believe his character, Flash Thompson, might become Agent Venom, a popular storyline from the Marvel comics.
The actor has expressed his strong interest in portraying a specific transformation within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s familiar with the source material and stated he’d be thrilled to take on the role, saying it would be ‘really cool.’ While it’s something he hopes for, he acknowledges whether it will actually happen remains to be seen.
The next Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland will continue the story directly after No Way Home. After the events that made the world forget he was Spider-Man, the film will focus on Peter Parker starting over and returning to fighting crime in his neighborhood.
The movie, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton who also directed Shang-Chi, is expected to be a major release for Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
