The latest Nintendo Switch 2 model has been available for approximately a month, but it remains challenging to find due to high demand. Despite numerous stores receiving new shipments, the console seldom stays on shelves for long. Now, gamers have an additional platform to monitor for restocks of the elusive Nintendo Switch 2. Recently, Amazon has started accepting pre-orders for select Nintendo Switch 2 games and will soon offer the console itself. However, securing one isn’t as straightforward as adding it to your cart.
Quite a few gaming enthusiasts were taken aback when they noticed that Amazon wasn’t among the stores offering pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2. Historically, there have been disputes between Amazon and Nintendo, primarily because of concerns about releasing products ahead of their official sale dates. However, it appears that these disagreements have been resolved, as Nintendo listings have gradually returned to Amazon’s platform. Now, the new console is among those listed officially.
Beginning today kicks off Amazon’s Prime Day sales extravaganza, and it appears they’re making a big splash for gaming enthusiasts! From July 8th onwards, you can find the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console and the “Mario Kart World” bundle listed on their site.
Nintendo Switch 2 on Amazon
Standard Console / $449.99
Just as you can’t purchase a Nintendo console directly from Nintendo and add it to your cart, the same applies when trying to buy the Switch 2 or Mario Kart World bundle. Instead of the standard “add to cart” button, there is an option to “request invite.” This is due to the high demand and limited availability of the Switch 2. Once you receive a special invitation via email, you’ll be able to purchase the console or bundle, much like Nintendo’s sales model on their website.
How Switch 2 Sales by Invite Work on Amazon
Regarding pricing, Amazon follows the trend in this case. The Nintendo Switch 2 system by itself costs $449.99. If you opt for the Nintendo Switch 2 + “Mario Kart World” bundle, it’s priced at a standard $499.99. Both prices align with Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP), and an additional benefit is Amazon’s quick shipping speed.
As a gaming enthusiast eagerly awaiting the Switch 2 console or bundle, I recommend keeping an eye on your inbox if you’ve requested an invite to buy it from Amazon. You’ll receive a confirmation email once your request is processed, which will also provide further details. This invitation is active for three months, so even if you don’t get invited this time, you might still secure a purchase email during the next restock – just remember that any email offering the Switch 2 will only be valid for a limited period of 22 hours!
The stock might sell out fast initially, but you’ll be informed when another chance arises. Unfortunately, Amazon has yet to disclose the number of Switch 2 consoles in inventory or how swiftly those on the invite list will receive the email notification.
