Bones Film, previously known simply as Bones, is a highly respected anime studio. They first gained recognition for their work with Sunrise on the Cowboy Bebop movie, and for nearly three decades, they’ve consistently produced top-quality anime, both adaptations and original series.
Bones Film consistently delivers high-quality animation and storytelling, which explains its popularity with both fans and critics. This strong reputation is largely thanks to a handful of anime series that are considered not just the studio’s best, but some of the best anime available.
7) Space Dandy

The 2014 anime Space Dandy follows Dandy, a stylish but not very successful alien bounty hunter, and his crew: QT, a robot, and Meow, an alien who looks like a cat. They travel the galaxy searching for rare aliens to collect as bounties, though Dandy is often more interested in finding women. Their adventures are usually strange and unpredictable.
With its hilarious writing, particularly in the English dub, and stunning, dreamlike visuals, Space Dandy is a thoroughly enjoyable sci-fi adventure. While it might not be as well-known as other works by director Shinichiro Watanabe, it’s clear why the show has gained a dedicated following in recent years.
6) Gachiakuta

In the year 2025, the story of Gachiakuta follows Rudo, who is wrongly accused of his father’s murder and exiled to a desolate, garbage-filled area called the Pit. There, he learns he’s a Giver – someone with the ability to magically empower objects. Driven by a thirst for revenge, Rudo vows to use his newfound powers to return to the Sphere and punish those who have harmed him.
Even though Gachiakuta is a recent release, it’s quickly become one of the best anime of 2025 thanks to its engaging characters, stunning animation, and expertly crafted fight scenes. It’s poised to become a major hit, and that recognition is well-earned.
5) Soul Eater

The anime Soul Eater, which premiered in 2008, takes place in a world where monsters constantly threaten humanity, particularly witches. Students at the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA) train to become Meisters and wield living weapons, working together to defeat these monsters and prevent the emergence of a powerful, evil being called a Kishin. They achieve this by developing a deep connection and synchronicity, known as soul resonance, that maximizes their combined potential.
Many consider Soul Eater to be one of the most memorable anime series from the 2000s, and it’s easy to understand why. With its engaging characters, impressive animation, and exciting action, the show is a visual treat. Although it didn’t receive a complete adaptation, the existing episodes of Soul Eater still hold up as a fantastic anime experience, even nearly two decades later.
4) Carole & Tuesday

Carole & Tuesday, a 2019 anime, follows the story of Carole Stanley, an orphan, and Tuesday Simmons, a runaway, who meet on a future Mars and bond over their shared passion for music. Together, they form a musical duo determined to make it big, facing challenges from both difficult circumstances and growing political unrest, but they have a real chance at success.
The anime Carole & Tuesday features a truly exceptional soundtrack and expertly crafted music that perfectly complements its deeply emotional and relatable story. It’s a unique project in director Shinichiro Watanabe’s filmography, and many consider it to be one of his finest works.
3) My Hero Academia

In the anime My Hero Academia, Izuku Midoriya has big dreams of becoming a hero, even though he was born without any superpowers. When he meets his hero, All Might, Izuku gets the opportunity to show he has the potential to become not just a hero, but the very best.
For years, My Hero Academia has been a popular anime, known for its exciting superhero battles and well-developed characters. While it’s had some minor issues along the way, it’s consistently lived up to its strong reputation. Now in its final season, everything suggests it will deliver a satisfying conclusion.
2) Mob Psycho 100

I recently watched Mob Psycho 100 from 2016, and it’s about a young boy named Mob. He’s incredibly powerful psychically, but he has to keep his emotions in check, or things get out of control. It’s interesting to see him trying to navigate everyday life – making friends, trying to get the attention of a girl he likes – all while dealing with a lot of supernatural problems. He really wants to be more open with his feelings, but it’s tough when you have so much power!
Mob Psycho 100 isn’t just visually stunning with some of the best animation in anime today—it also tells a surprisingly touching story about growing up. This combination makes it a truly exceptional series. While its creator, ONE, is famous for One-Punch Man, many consider Mob Psycho 100 to be his greatest work.
1) Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

The 2009 anime series, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, is the second animated adaptation of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga. While a previous anime was also made by Bones Film in 2003, Brotherhood closely follows the original manga’s story, showing the complete journey of Edward and Alphonse as they search for the Philosopher’s Stone and battle the Homunculi, with very few changes to the source material.
Although the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime had its strengths, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood truly shines by faithfully retelling the original story with amazing animation. It’s widely considered one of the greatest anime ever made, and many believe it’s the best anime series produced by Bones.
