We regularly check the PlayStation Store for new deals, and it looks like Sony is considering a system where prices change based on individual users.
It’s hard to be certain, but we’ve seen a few instances where the same game has been listed at two different prices at the same time.
Firstly, about a year ago, someone reported different prices for Astro Bot on PS Store.
In short, the user noticed the game was listed at two different prices: $59.99 and $44.99. The lower price of $44.99 appeared after they logged into their PlayStation Network account, while a friend saw the $59.99 price when logged into their own account.
Another issue has been found, this time concerning a wrong discount shown for Red Dead Redemption 2: Ultimate Edition.
The user reports seeing the game priced at $19.99, but their partner sees it listed for $14.99.
Okay, so I’m hearing Sony might be trying out this system where prices change depending on who you are, and honestly, it feels kinda unfair. Like, why should my friend have to pay more for the same game just because of… well, just because? It doesn’t seem right that the price isn’t the same for everyone.
We’ve noticed a recurring ‘Exclusive Discount for You’ offer on the PlayStation Store, and while we hadn’t paid it much attention before, it’s possible these discounts are actually personalized for each user account.
At any rate, it’s interesting to see a couple of rare examples of this happening.
It’s unclear whether this will become a common issue. It might resolve itself, or it could simply be an error.
