Beenox, the studio behind Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, could be developing a new Crash Team Racing game.
We’re using the word might deliberately, as this information comes from a rather unusual source. So please be patient with us as we explain…
Beenox recently changed the header image on their X (formerly Twitter) page. The new image included artwork from several of their games, but one piece in particular got Crash Bandicoot fans talking.
The artwork shows the bandicoot driving a kart, and it appears to be a completely new image. It doesn’t seem to be taken from the game Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, and Crash Bandicoot himself looks like he’s designed as he appeared in Crash Bandicoot 4, which came out in 2021.
To make things worse, Beenox removed the original banner and replaced it with a typical advertisement for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Beenox is one of the studios that helps develop the Call of Duty games.
The artwork might not have been intended for public viewing just yet, but luckily, @LuchoComix discovered it and preserved it for future use.
It’s no surprise that fans of the Crash Bandicoot series are incredibly excited about this news. The last main installment, Nitro-Fueled, came out in 2019 for PlayStation 4 and is still limited to that console, running at only 30 frames per second.
The updated racing game was a huge hit, selling 10 million copies, so it’s likely Activision will create a sequel.
It’s possible this new kart artwork was created just for Beenox’s marketing, but that seems unlikely.
Now that The Game Awards are almost here, it’s worth wondering if the recent rumors will turn out to be true. While we wait, let us know what you think about Crash Team Racing in the comments!
