Blizzard Once Again Shuts Down World of Warcraft Console Talk

As a long-time reader of Push Square, I’ve been hearing about the possibility of World of Warcraft coming to consoles for ages! Honestly, it feels like years of rumors and speculation, but it’s never actually happened, and it looks like we’re still waiting – probably for a long time to come.

In a recent interview on the Unshackled Fury podcast, a channel dedicated to World of Warcraft fans, game director Ion Hazzikostas addressed questions about the possibility of bringing World of Warcraft to PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Unfortunately for hopeful onlookers, Hazzikostas makes the company’s current stance clear:

We want to be upfront: if we were planning to release World of Warcraft on consoles or other platforms, we’d let you know. We have nothing to hide.

After Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard a few years ago, many people expected Microsoft to encourage Blizzard to grow the World of Warcraft franchise and release games on platforms other than PC.

However, we still haven’t seen any firm plans regarding this. While it’s possible World of Warcraft could become part of the discussion as Xbox expands to more platforms, bringing such a large game like that over would be a massive project.

Ever wished you could play World of Warcraft on PlayStation? Would you be interested if it were possible? Let us know in the comments if you’d give it a try!
