Mafia PS5 Was a Success, Beats Sales Expectations

2K, the publisher of the PlayStation 5 game Mafia: The Old Country, considers the game a success, as it has sold better than they initially predicted. This is especially encouraging for smaller games priced under $70.

During a recent earnings call, where Take-Two Interactive also announced that GTA 6 will now release in November 2026, CEO Strauss Zelnick explained to The Game Business that the anticipated success of the game shows people are eager for well-made, story-driven experiences.

As we expected, it’s clear that people respond really well to a compelling story that’s engaging, manageable in scope, and reasonably priced. That combination seems to be a recipe for success.

Instead of the usual price, Mafia: The Old Country is currently available for £44.99 or $49.99 and focuses heavily on its story. The game features an open world, but it’s accessible through a separate menu, letting players enjoy the main story as it unfolds over several chapters.

I’m getting so hyped! It sounds like they’re already working on another Mafia game! Carina Conti, who voiced Isabella, let slip that Hangar 13 got the go-ahead for a sequel. She said it’s really exciting, and based on what she’s saying, it looks like they’re planning something just as big and ambitious as the last one. Fingers crossed!

The developer has promised more content for The Old Country, including a “Free Ride” mode and new things to do. They first mentioned this in August, saying it would be available “in the coming months,” but it hasn’t been released yet.
