“The next Mass Effect game is in development,” BioWare assures

The next Mass Effect game, originally revealed in 2020, is still being worked on, according to Mike Gamble, executive producer at BioWare, in a recent blog post for “N7 Day.”

Just to be clear, a new Mass Effect game is currently being made, and both Electronic Arts and BioWare are dedicated to continuing the series’ story, according to Gamble.

Things have been really hectic at BioWare lately, but right now, the entire team is completely focused on making the next Mass Effect game. We’re building a huge universe with lots of features and, of course, plenty of romance options! We’re really excited about how it’s coming together, and we promise to share it with you as soon as we’re ready. Thanks for being so eager for updates – and for reading into my tweets! (Sometimes there are hidden clues, though.)

Gamble also discussed the Mass Effect television series currently in development at Amazon.

I haven’t really discussed this publicly, but you may have heard we’re working on a TV series. We’re collaborating closely with Amazon, and we’re very pleased with the progress their team is making.

The writing team is making great progress, and we have a clear understanding of how the show fits into the established Mass Effect storyline and its connection to the upcoming game. The series will tell a completely new story set within the Mass Effect universe, taking place after the events of the original trilogy. It won’t simply retell Commander Shepard’s adventure – that’s a story that belongs to the players!

A release date and platforms for the new Mass Effect game have not been announced.
