Electronic Arts will be shutting down online services for four older, major video games within the next 24 hours. This is part of a recent trend by EA to discontinue support for its legacy titles. Just last month, online services for Need for Speed: Rivals were discontinued, and now four more games will follow suit.
Starting tomorrow, November 8th, EA is shutting down the online features for four older racing games: Dirt 3, Dirt Showdown, Grid 2, and Grid Autosport. These games, all made by Codemasters and originally released for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC between 2011 and 2014, will still be playable offline. However, you won’t be able to race against others online anymore. While not unexpected, this is disappointing news for players who still enjoy these games.
These May Not Be the Only EA Games Shutting Down

In addition to the four games EA is already shutting down tomorrow, two more might be affected. An EA employee shared with Delisted Games that online services for Dirt 4 and Dirt Rally will also end on November 8th. However, EA hasn’t officially confirmed this information yet, so it’s best to view this as unconfirmed for now.
It would be unexpected to see both Dirt 4 and Dirt Rally shut down this week, as they haven’t been out for very long. Dirt Rally first came out in 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and Dirt 4 followed in 2017 on those same platforms. Though these games are now around eight to ten years old, it’s unusual for their online features to be discontinued so quickly.
We’ll let you know if we learn anything new about Dirt 4 and Dirt Rally being removed tomorrow. But, Dirt 3, Dirt Showdown, Grid 2, and Grid Autosport are definitely going offline right now, so it’s time to say goodbye to those games.
