L.A. Dodgers Share Support for Alex Vesia After Death of Baby Girl

The Dodgers community is coming together amid tragic news.

Following the heartbreaking loss of their daughter, Sterling Sol Vesia, on November 7th, relief pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife Kayla received an outpouring of support from his MLB team.

On Alex and Kayla’s Instagram post – a black-and-white photo of their baby’s hand with a message about their grief after their baby passed away on October 26th – the Dodgers’ official Instagram account left a supportive comment, saying, “Thinking of you all and sending so much love.”

The LA Dodgers wives, the team’s official support group for players’ spouses, also shared a message of support, saying, “We’re here for you both, always.”

Chelsea Freeman, wife of Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, expressed her sympathy, saying she was thinking of the family and their daughter, whom she called a “beautiful angel.”

Alex and Kayla said they treasured every moment with Sterling, and shared their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they’ve received since announcing they were expecting a baby in April.

The couple expressed their gratitude to the Dodgers organization for their kindness and backing during a difficult time. They shared that the team’s support meant the world to them, and they couldn’t have managed without it, following the announcement on October 23rd that Alex would be taking a leave of absence from the 2025 World Series.

Alex and Kayla also recognized the Toronto Blue Jays, the Dodgers’ opponent in the World Series. The Blue Jays showed their support for Alex by wearing hats with his number 51 during game three, and they appreciated the support from the entire baseball community.

I was so excited when Kayla and Alex Vesia finally confirmed they were a couple on Instagram back in April 2019! Kayla posted the cutest message saying, “GAME OVER (literally & metaphorically),” and it was clear she’d found her person.

When Alex began playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2021, Kayla and his parents consistently showed their strong support by cheering him on from the stands.

A year before he popped the question, Alex celebrated a huge milestone for the couple. 

He celebrated three years with his partner in an April 2022 post, writing, “These past three years have flown by! I love sharing life with you – you make me so happy! I love you!”

The couple enjoyed the 2023 holiday season while looking forward to their wedding. Alex shared their excitement in a social media post, writing, “Merry Christmas from the future Vesias!!”

I was so thrilled for them when they got married in January 2024! It was amazing to see they immediately celebrated by heading off on their first trip as husband and wife – a getaway to Mexico! It looked like the perfect start to their life together.

Things are going well for the couple, who marked their first wedding anniversary with a hot air balloon ride in January 2025.

Kayla and Alex shared a sweet moment from their date night, showcasing Kayla’s baby bump. Alex celebrated the evening on Instagram, writing that spending time with his wife while she’s expecting made for a wonderful night.

I was absolutely thrilled when the Dodgers clinched their place in the 2025 World Series against the Blue Jays! Kayla, being the amazing partner she is, immediately shared how proud she was of her man with a simple but perfect post: ‘& NOW… ONTO THE WORLD SERIES.’ It just captured all the excitement!
