The Avengers, Earth’s greatest heroes, constantly battle powerful and dangerous villains in the Marvel universe. Opponents like Thanos, Loki, and Ultron are famous comic book baddies who have truly tested the team. Over more than six decades, the Avengers have faced a huge variety of enemies – from alien tyrants and deadly robots to evil magic users and supervillain groups. However, despite their strength and compelling stories, some of these villains haven’t gotten the recognition they deserve.
The Marvel universe has a huge roster of villains, so it’s not surprising that some great Avengers enemies get forgotten. Despite having impressive abilities, interesting personalities, and elaborate plans, these villains often aren’t well-known even among dedicated fans.
7) Lethal Legion

While the Masters of Evil are often seen as the Avengers’ biggest enemy, the Lethal Legion is equally threatening. The original team was assembled by the villain Grim Reaper and included dangerous foes like Man-Ape, Power Man, Living Laser, and Swordsman. Later versions were created by other villains, including the Grandmaster, Henry Gyrich, and Count Nefaria. Most Lethal Legion teams have focused solely on destroying the Avengers, and they’ve come dangerously close to succeeding on several occasions. With its diverse and powerful members and a long-standing rivalry with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Lethal Legion deserves to be recognized as a major threat.
6) Black Swan

Yabbat Ummon Tarru, also known as Black Swan, comes from a different universe that was facing annihilation. Her world was threatened by a collision with another universe, and most of her people were killed by the Black Priests – powerful beings who eliminate anyone trying to prevent these collisions. Driven to stop these universe-destroying events, Black Swan began proactively destroying universes before they could crash into others, sacrificing one to save another. She clashed with the Avengers when she arrived on our Earth, proving a formidable opponent with her incredible strength, heat vision, force fields, and telepathy. However, despite her powerful abilities and compelling backstory, Black Swan has unfortunately been reduced to a supporting role as a member of Thanos’ Black Order since her first appearance.
5) Super-Adaptoid

Super-Adaptoid is a powerful android created by the terrorist group A.I.M. It can copy the powers, weapons, and skills of up to eight different people simultaneously. This shapeshifting robot has duplicated abilities like Thor’s hammer and Captain America’s shield, and has battled the Avengers multiple times. Originally designed to eliminate Captain America, Super-Adaptoid now aims for global domination and the destruction of humankind. Its ability to constantly evolve, combined with a self-repairing metal body and its power of imitation, makes it one of the Avengers’ most dangerous and adaptable foes.
4) Morgan Le Fay

Morgan Le Fay is a powerful and well-known witch from the stories of King Arthur, and she’s also a major villain in Marvel Comics. Originally from the 6th century, she can project her spirit into the future, making her a recurring enemy of heroes like Spider-Woman and the Avengers. Morgan is a terrifying opponent with a huge range of magical abilities – she can warp reality, come back to life, blast energy, control minds, raise the dead, change her shape, and cast countless other spells. Her ultimate goal is world domination, and even when defeated, she always returns to threaten the Avengers due to her ability to resurrect herself.
3) Grim Reaper

Grim Reaper, the vengeful brother of the Avenger Wonder Man (Eric Williams), has made it his life’s work to defeat Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. He holds the Avengers responsible for his brother’s death, even after Wonder Man was brought back to life. Losing a hand in battle with the Avengers, he replaced it with a dangerous scythe. Over the years, Grim Reaper has led the Lethal Legion, taken control of Hydra, and even served as one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Originally a villain focused on technology, he now also possesses the power to control the dead, having experienced death and resurrection himself. Grim Reaper is a terrifying enemy who would make a compelling central villain in future Avengers adventures.
2) Graviton

Franklin Hall, known as Graviton, was a scientist who gained the ability to control gravity after a lab accident. He can make objects weightless or crush things with immense force. However, this power drove him insane, turning him into a dangerous and erratic threat. Despite possessing control over one of the universe’s fundamental forces and being a potentially devastating villain, Marvel hasn’t fully explored Graviton’s potential in recent years. Even so, he’s nearly defeated the Avengers on several occasions. Graviton is a remarkably powerful, yet often overlooked, villain who deserves a chance to truly challenge Earth’s mightiest heroes.
1) Korvac

Michael Korvac is one of the most formidable villains in the Marvel Universe. Originally a human slave in the 31st century, he escaped and gained incredible power by absorbing energy from Galactus’s ship, allowing him to alter reality itself. Traveling to the present day with his partner, Carina, Korvac intended to rebuild the universe in his vision of perfection. This ambition brought him into conflict with the Avengers, who he quickly defeated. However, his own insecurities about Carina’s feelings led him to sacrifice himself, restoring the Avengers. Even in death, Korvac continues to reappear as a threat, but surprisingly, many Marvel fans aren’t familiar with his story or his power level, which rivals that of Thanos.
